Friday Art Preview - 12/15/23

Wow.. it's Friday! Let's check out some art for an upcoming RPG. This one is a bit different...

Here we have a small portion of a card for an upcoming RPG. This game is inspired by, and is about Heavy Metal. Think the stuff in the 80's with the face make up and pointy guitars! The artwork on these cards were illustrated by Filip Popovic. Filip illustrated a bunch of our games including the Championland series, Astral Dreams, and more. The idea behind these illustrations is that they would be in the style of old band patches. Like the ones you would see on a cool denim jacket or vest back in the day. They're bold, a bit scary and are meant to make you want to rock out!

There's so much I want to talk about with this game. Like was the designer, C. C. Chamberlin, watching a lot of Spinal Tap when coming up with this idea? What band will I put on in the background while playing this game? The theme is just super exciting to me, and I can't wait for this one to be done. The rest of the card will be revealed as we get a more complete layout done. When I have more to share, I will post it here.

If you're a metal head, why not share your favorite band in the comments so we all have something to listen to while we wait for the rest of the card to drop?

Thanks for checking out this week's art preview, see you next time!

I love these bands but never heard of Electric Callboy. These guys are incredible. Thank you!

That encounter made me love the show even more

George here - I saw Devin Townsend in concert in philly and he spent a moment of the show making fun of me because I stood in the middle of the pit but not participating. I swear I was just tired from work that day!

Ghost! Powerwolf! Glory Hammer! Electric Callboy!

“The idea behind these illustrations is that they would be in the style of old band patches. Like the ones you would see on a cool denim jacket or vest back in the day.” Back in the day?! I still see those at shows! It’s tough for me to pick a single favorite band, so let’s just go with one of my favorites that I saw live this year: Ne Obliviscaris

Bug

That would be Sleepytime Gorilla Museum or Devin Townsend.

Daniel Nelon

Gah!! This is so rad. Can’t wait.

Jeff Delbert

I was never a metal fan, but I’m sure I could play some punk by the Ramones while playing this and get just as excited 😎
