Unsurmountable is the third title in our Simply Solo line, designed by Scott Almes for single-player only, focusing on elegant rules that create complex situations. Like the previous two games, Unsurmountable delivers a fun puzzle that’s sure to hit the table again and again.

As a member you will receive a discount, and all of the details are below. Any questions, just ask either in the comments here or on our Discord server.

The first important thing is the campaign link:

Here's how to pledge at Kickstarter as a member

Find the reward level that you would like in the spreadsheet below, then locate your region and your patron level to find out how much to pledge. Choose the $1 BGOTMC Members reward level and adjust your pledge amount accordingly.

We’re also working on a pledge calculator on our website. If you’d like to try it out you can find it here:

Also a quick note: Unsurmountable with the Big Climb expansion will be offered at the $20 level in an upcoming month. All of the other expansions available as Add-ons in this campaign (Unsurmountable: Dual Peaks, Food Chain Island: Legendary Creatures, Ugly Gryphon Inn: The Guest House, Ugly Gryphon Inn: Innployees) will be included in future $10+ packages.

You’ve climbed all of the mightiest mountains: Kilimanjaro, Everest, K2. Yet there’s one towering titan that’s always eluded you. The mountain where anything can happen. In the whisper-thin air the paths twist and shift as you climb, stranding the unprepared and confounding the overconfident. Do you have what it takes to summit this perilous peak?

In Unsurmountable, players will be tackling the rocky slopes of an ever-changing mountain. As the game unfolds, they must place the next piece of the path carefully in order to complete a route to the top while simultaneously meeting any additional goals for the round. It may sound like a walk in the park, but this puzzle has plenty of pitfalls to keep players on their toes.

Setup is quick: set the Rescue Helicopter aside nearby; shuffle the 17 card deck; and place 5 cards face-up in a row along the bottom edge of the play area.

On each turn, you choose one of two actions: play the leftmost card in the row into the mountain; or discard any other card from the row to gain its unique effect. Cards must either be played to the base of the mountain or to a higher slot which is supported by 2 cards underneath. Card effects can help you reach the peak by swapping or moving cards. However, it’s not all good news: a few of them offer risky plays or even ongoing penalties which can slow you down. And don’t forget the Rescue Helicopter! It can swoop in once during the game to return any card in the row to the bottom of the deck.

After playing or discarding a card, refill the row to 5 cards and keep going until you’ve conquered the mountain...or it’s conquered you. If you manage to complete the pyramid of 10 cards and have an unbroken route running from the bottom of the mountain to the peak, you’ve won the game!

Once you’ve scaled your first peak, you can continue to test yourself by incorporating the optional difficulty rules. Each of the more difficult grades adds an additional restriction that must be met. These rules are cumulative and not for the faint of heart!

The Unsurmountable: Big Climb expansion is included with all pledges. It adds 6 new cards, increasing the size of the mountain to a whopping 15 cards, and also includes two new features: prayer flags and seracs.

There are so many more details on the Kickstarter page, including all the information about the new expansions for the Food Chain Island and Ugly Gryphon Inn. Head over there for everything you need to know.

I have problems with it every time and my FOMO has meant i have duplicate games! I will gift them, but its still annoying.

Bart

I'm a $20 Patron. Yes. Do nothing & it will come. The Patreon post will say, "$20+ Supporters - Choose your [MONTH] game!" If you don't want the game listed, then comment with the game you do want in the list they provide in that post. Personally, I find it easier not to do the Kickstarter. The calculations are complicated for me. Of course, when they have a Kickstarter reprint campaign, then I calculate. Hope this helps. I apologize if too wordy.

NANCY M SILVA

So.... If I'm a $20 Patron I don't have to do anything with this Kickstarter and will eventually receive all the products in this Kickstarter sometime in the future?

Scott Chisholm

My experience is that I chose the $1 pledge, then added a contribution of $18 (9 + 14 EU shipping - 5 patreon member discount), and the total pledge was for $19, as expected

Giovanni Cardone

I think the wording of how to do the pledge math has changed a bit from the past. So a question: you pledge $1 more than the amount in the table above (plus shipping minus discount), right? So for the first row, you pledge $9+$1+shipping-discount? Kickstarter doesn't ask you how much you want to add to the $1, it just asks you how much you want to pledge total, so it's a bit confusing what "as you pledge $1 as a member" means.

Eric Anderson

You say the add-ons will be in later months, but what about food chain island and ugly gryphon inn? Will those be available too, or should I grab this for them?

Ashley Vincent

Any chance of adding another bag? For the shipping cost to the UK I’d like to add something else if possible, but all the add-ons I need/want are coming via BGOTMC

Benjamin Jelley

That 50 buck tier looks fantastic. :D

temp_anon

Will the add-on expansions for the previous games be in any upcoming BGoTM pack?

Ethan Hutchinson

Ok. Looks like I screwed up my pledge. How do I go in and edit?

Ryan Lane

This looks great! Very much looking forward to this, although will likely wait for it to get added to the $20+ Subscription.
