The scene where the girls are running through Kabukicho and the surrounding parts hold a really special place in my heart. Not only does the sentiment of "motion" that KiMari spoke of really resonate here but there were many landmark references of the neighborhood. Including an area called the "Golden Gai" which is a famous area of tiny little bars (sitting no more than 7 to 10 people) and it's a fantastic place to go for drinks, do a little bar hopping, and meet all kinds of people. So yeah, that scene always brings forth feelings of nostalgia for me.

2024-12-29 04:13:41 +0000 UTCThe title of the series is based on a comment made by a Japanese astronaut who was invited to participate in an Antarctic expedition, referring to the fact that the distance between Japan and Antarctica is greater than the distance traveled to leave the Earth's atmosphere. The series was produced by many of the creators of No Game No Life. The show is peppered with references to that show through posters and similar images in the background. This episode should be called "Enter best Girl" In Japan it is common to put the last syllable of the surname together with the name to refer to a friend, in this case TamaKI Mari.

So the names of the girls are as followed: Mari Tamaki "Kimari" is our MC Shirase Kobuchizawa is the the tall girl with long black hair (Her missing Mother is called Takako Kobuchizawa, we saw her name get yelled at the short scene when there was a snow storm in Anartica) Hinata Miyake is the quirky with blonde/brown ish hair And lasty the Girl we saw at the end is Yuzuki Shiraishi, a bit sort and also black hiar. The Woman with the hat was called Tamiko Shiraishi so the last girl and her have the same surname. A little side-info the ship they were visiting at the end of episode 1 is also called "Shirase" and is a real ice-breaker ship. Can be a bit confusing in the first episode when they talk about the ship and say the name of the girl! The Part-Time job both considered in doing was indeed something raunchy and not quite legal, i believe they say it is just for "walks" and "talking" for legal reasons but it is to be expected to be a bit more intimate which is why the Pay was so massive with 1Million (around 6000 euro) The district "Kabukicho" is basically a red-light place in Shinjuku and is known for beeing an adult party place, hence the many attractions and rather salacious bars and hotels (basically to rent a room on a hour and not night basis)
