First and foremost, the concept of the whole story is very interesting. The main plot is basically a dark revenge play, and the more you progress the more you find out about the setting, the characters and their motives. Plus the fact it takes place in a gorgeous fantasy gothic world. Now, unfortunately, is when I have to call the anime's flaws out (which is something I rarely like doing). I've been reading the manga for some time, and I've been enjoying it a lot. It's a mature read that doesn't shy away from facing graphic and violent themes, but more than that it never tries to portray the main characters as heroes. One of its best quality is without a doubt the drawing style: it's very precise, full of details, and relies a lot on its dark colour palette. Which means that I honestly tried to enjoy the anime... but couldn't. To me it's just that bad, and I don't say this lightly. Rushed and all-over-the-place pacing, average animation quality, dull voice acting. The OP itself is probably the best thing about the anime. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from watching it, it's just that it's one of those cases where I'd recommend not even bothering with this adaptation and just jumping straight to the manga.
