This is also set in a fantasy world but also like a medieval/World War 2, type of world. They have the weapons and the technology of World War 2, but the living. And Royal standards are of medieval times

She wanted to marry this prince and When she found out he wanted to marry her. She was actually happy that was said in the episode that she wanted this to happen. She was not mad that this was an arranged marriage Because like I said earlier. She's the one who set this up.

Without the OVA slipped in before this, you get the moment of "How did Violet go from writing apology letters in a small mountain village, to writing public letters for a Princess of a country." This is the most challenging episode of the series for people, for good reason. You can of course write some excuses for it, it was a marriage to help unify two countries, it was a different era, women didn't live as long, this is normal for Royalty, etc etc.. I do wish KyoAni took the liberty to age up Violet and the Princess (and Damian down a bit) as then you could focus on the topic of the episode instead. So what did she learn this episode? I think she learned that it's important to be open and honest when you express your feelings, and there is true value in your words over the written words of another. Still a gorgeous episode with all the colours, the two flowers representing the two countries. The white and red flags in the village for the marriage, the red and white confetti, people drinking red and white wine. The princess bringing her court maids hand to her forehead as she kneels, symbolic as heck. And Violet SMILING at the end when they say it's a beautiful day. Ending with the whiplash of running into Gilbert's brother. "You write letters that bring people together?" A phrase with such different meaning depending on tone of voice.
