That was a great calm and relaxing reaction to this relaxing and calm anime. Its in my TOP 3. :)
First a hint: All character names are german words. For example: Frieren means freezing, Eisen is iron, Himmel can be sky or heaven and Heiter means cheerful and Fern is a word we use for distance / far away things.
How I feel about this anime and how it handles things like death ? Well Frieren is an elf and 1000+ yrs old and Eisen a dwarf age unknown. This anime made me think about my own age ( almost 60 ) and how I think about my own death. I am still thinking to be honest.
Sadly I have to wait for the german dubs. Not that I need them but its easier hearing my native tongue. I am at episode 22 now. I guess I have to pause your reaction when I catch up. Spoilers you know. ;)

Never had I thought that I would enjoy a fantasy anime like I do with Frieren. This show had it’s hooks in me within 5 minutes of episode 1. I’m so looking forward to watching where this story goes .

I absolutely love this anime and I hope it continues its theme throughout, if so it'll break into my top 10.
This first time I watched episode 1 I was sick so my walls were down and it emotionally broke me. Rewatching it now did the exact same, no excuses, there's just something about it.
Small things I love about this show so far.
The audio. You have the scenes where they're at a river and that's all you hear, or the crunching of leaves beneath their feet as they step down a small ledge. The music comes in only when it needs to.
I also love the chapter change scenes where it says "XX years after the death of [person]" to signify the passing of time.

Honestly one of the most beautiful anime of the last few years, and its approach in talking about what comes "after" the war, instead of the war itself, is something we almost never see in any kind of media. It looks as stunning as the manga does, which is another thing we rarely see nowadays. Every person is a round, complex character, able to live on its own inside the story instead of having been created specifically for the story. And the "Lord of the Rings"-esque OST fits the setting perfectly. You might be interested in knowing the one composing the music, Evan Call, also worked on Violet Evergarden (since you'll be reacting to it pretty soon).
