2023-01-22 16:07:10 +0000 UTCI think Kenny played a huge role in the decision to switch. Levi told Erwin to give up on his dream and die, and he genuinely accepted that. Kenny made Levi realize "everyone is drunk on something that keeps them going". For Erwin it was the basement. Levi asks Erwin twice before this mission what he will do when its over and Erwin says he wont know until they get there. IMO Levi is worried that If he revives Erwin and he reaches the basement he will lose his main driving factor for helping humanity. Erwin even admitted to Levi that reaching the basement was more important that humanity to him. Pyxis and Zachery even caught onto this too and mention it. Levi heard Eren, Mikasa, and Armin talking the night before the mission about their dreams. He knows what Armins dream is and he understands it is on a grand scale. To see the sea, and beyond. An ambition to see the world. Levi is taking the chance that Armins dream will carry them forward. Thats just my take on it anyway. Great reaction as usual. Youre almost done with the setup chapters, the show is starting soon =)

2023-01-22 09:30:31 +0000 UTC(no spoilers) When first watching this, I agreed with the decision to bring back Armin. Levi definitely chose the better candidate at the time for the right reasons with the knowledge he had. Me, knowing what's coming... Erwin, as a strong leader, could/would have prevented a lot of it. All respect to Hange- but they're better as a mad scientist type, doing their research and getting excited over new titan experiments. I don't think leadership is anything they sought as a career goal or have the skills required to keep people under control. But, as Levi said in Season 1, we don't know the outcomes of our choices. Yes Levi made the right choice. Hindsight being 20/20 though, Erwin might have been the better option. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, careful for the next episode. There should be an after-credits scene for you to watch.
