The other comments pretty much said everything, this show started in 2006 and just finished recently in 2021. It's an experience you won't find in any other anime, with a great mix of comedy and drama. And yea, those 3 are not related at all, but they develop a bond stronger than anything. Beware, if you ever watch it, it starts out slow as it introduces all the characters, but by the 30-35ish episode it starts to bang!

2022-11-21 08:28:48 +0000 UTCBasically Gintama started off as 80% comedy and 20% drama, until later on it turned into 50% comedy and 50% drama. Most characters and events are based upon historical people and historical events, simply spun in a "Gintama" way. Also, the people in uniforms are members of the Shinsengumi, which was a real historical police force during the Bakumatsu period, which served the bakufu (aka the military government).
