To win you need to earn 25 points by shooting boats, golden boats give 3 points!
When you reach 25 points, you are set free from your prison, but can continue playing if you want (only boats hit by cannon balls earn you points though)

You know, so people don't get confused when something like a two-minute timer pops up and you now have a different control scheme. But on the other hand... man, I can imagine it feeling satisfying to attack the boats physically once Garn himself is set free.
