the only thing i would say to them about DS9 is just be ready for something different. because it's NOT Next Generation 2.0.
DS9 is it's own show and its own vibe.

Thank you for your continuing entertainment. I very much enjoyed your Nosferatu discussion and I haven't even seen the movie. Makes me want to see it just to experience the things you were talking about. Great job on your channel.

I felt the first season of "The Boys" was really good. I made it through the second season but found it disappointing and was not interested enough to even go near the 3rd.

I think, as has been true of every iteration so far, that they will like the Show. I don't think we have to worry about that. And, as has been true of every iteration to date, they will find their own reasons to like it and help us reexamine our own. And I think none of us will enjoy it as much if we spend too much time winding ourselves or them up with vague speculation on what's ahead. We're still months away from DS9, let's just let it all unspool at its own pace as best we can.

There are things you guys say where I'm like "I think they'll like [X]!" Then you say something else and I think, "Oh, maybe they WON'T like [X]." This is where I'm at with DS9. People have praised the performances, complained about the performances, some of the episodes might get you hype, other's leave you cold. The pilot even has two aspects I think may be roadblocks for you. I just dunno anymore.

Great points today.
I thought it was me getting old or bored or something, but I am also having a problem getting into any series right now too -The Boy's, The LOTR one, the GOT one and so on...I dunno what it is, but I get more enjoyment watching you two watch the Treks that I have already seen ...
I, too, saw Nosferatu- I was excited because I bought 4 tickets and took my friends..It was ok-it was pretty, some beautiful cinematic shots..but that was about it..my friends all horror fans came away the same feeling..meh-
If you go watch the trailer for Nausferatu-the trailer is WAY more scary.."HE IS COMING"...if they had gone with that theme it might have been successful..

Looking for a good/interesting Dracula? The blu-ray of the Universal Bela Legosi version from 1931 also contains the Spanish language film that was produced the same year. This is not a dub but an entirely separate movie that was filmed exclusively at night on the same sets with a separate cast. And because it was not originally released in the United States, it is not subject to the Hayes Decency Code, and is therefore able to incorporate more of the blood and sensuality of the story. Definitely worth a try (as is the Bela Legosi).

I relate to what you both are saying about being able to watch a series and stay engaged with the junk that's out there these days. My wife started watching Downtown Abbey and slowly got pulled in. If you want to see good acting and subtle story, I recommend checking this out. I can't pass on the late, great Maggie Smith.

I got 2 episodes into The Boyz season 4, and said "I'm done." More of the same and not all that good. Life's too short.

Sorry to hear the new Nosferatu is a letdown. I like the original. The Werner Herzog 1979 version even has some good moments. Oh, well...you saved me the price of a movie ticket. As an aside, best nosferatu make-up: Reggie Nalder (Shras the Andorian from Journey to Babel) in the original Salem's Lot.

I love the 1922 Nosferatu and was, like you, very disappointed in this. I cared nothing about any of the characters and was so bored halfway through I ended up falling asleep in the theater.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) is still the best.

I think what's missing for you guys is the nostalgia of loving TOS in your childhood, then waiting YEARS for each movie. I was 18 when ST:V came out, and enjoyed it. People were starving to see Kirk, Bones and Spock again, plus having just "survived" the Cold War, then ST6: THE COLD WAR ENDS came out.... loved it. Mine was the last of kids who were taught to hide in the school during a Russian invasion (watch Red Dawn). All this came together to make a generation of people who loved the 6th film.

I was so looking forward to Nosferatu. I had such high hopes. But, I agree with you. I was disappointed. The visuals were good, but the story, pace, acting, and the vampire was bad. Though, Nicolas Holt is much better than Keanu Reeves, but that's not really a high bar. As far as the vampire goes, I never saw the original, but I have seen pictures. I was expecting an elf with fangs. Instead, I got a perverted, deformed Russian.
Oh, and i liked Juror #2. Well, it was okay. I liked it better than Nosferatu.

I saw Nosferatu on a whim a few days ago. Not a huge horror guy but I liked it. As you guys mentioned it was visually amazing and the best scene WAS everything in the castle near the start. Seemed to lean more in the demonic possession route, felt like I was watching The Exorcist through most of it, but I thought it was a cool style to inject into the classic story.
