Hard to hear what you’re saying over the music.

Aramis Calcutt

Fair point. I had the idea probably ten years ago so then he would have been good for an origin story. But hey I’ll take an adult one. Bring it 😀

tyranusfan

A young 007? How about regular 007, Hoult is 35, he's already older than Sean Connery (32) and George Lazenby (29) were during their Bond debuts and only slightly younger than Daniel Craig who was 38. The others were in their early 40s. Hoult is actually the perfect age to play James Bond.

Phillip Grischa

True

Anthony MacEwan

I'm a big fan of Nicholas Hoult (I want him to play a young 007, but I don't think they'll ever do that), so I'm excited to see his take on Lex. I'll go see it. You never know until you watch it. I don't watch/listen to reviews that come out *before* the movie does. I went to see Kraven the Hunter the other day. Despite what everyone said online beforehand, I was entertained for two hours. I don't think I wasted $9. So, we'll see!

I can't wait for you to get to Superman 3. CAN'T WAIT.

What a bunch of Negatve Nancys you guys are. I figure most of the Edgelord contingent decided you were going to hate it months ago. I loved it! 5 highlights: 1. Clark & Superman have a clear and distinctive look. The hair, posture, etc. 2. The quick shot of a completely comic accurate Guy Gardner. Especially the haircut! 3. Lois Lane - Rachel Brosnahan is really evoking the essence of Margot Kidder both in look and body language. 4. Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor! He looks positively evil! 5. KRYPTO! In his full glory, cape & all! I feel like James Gunn is a good enough filmmaker to understand his usual semi raunchy humor from Guardians would be completely out of place here. Edgelords have to realize that justl because they don't grow & evolve, that doesn't mean the rest of us are similarly afflicted. I'm rooting for Gunn & DC here mostly because of the atrocious mandates WB put on Snyder, & HIS template for the DCEU. It was doomed (undeservedly) from the start. I love the DC heroes. They led the comic book movie revolution of 2008 with "The Dark Knight" only to fumble the ball - to the normie general public anyway - on literally everything that came after. It's time for that to change.

Owen Madden

But he doesn't have THE CAPE!

Owen Madden

We are going to watch theatrically released solo Superman films. Anything beyond that can be considered if we have the time

Josh (Target Audience)

Why does anyone think this is going to be good? I didn't see anything in that teaser to change my mind. Yeah, the musical callback is nice - but the movie still has no chance. I hope I'm wrong.

Matt Newmark

Are you going to watch the Animated films as well? If you aren't, I suggest you make an exception for Superman vs The Elite, it is a great film and gets so much right about the character what everything else was getting wrong at the time.

Thomas Cole

Is it just me, or does David Coronswet in Clark Kent mode look like Tony Khan?

Retro Tom

He's in the Titans series, no Superman just Superboy.

Anthony MacEwan

I’ve never shared Gunn’s sensibilities but I was hoping that this trailer could begin to make me change my mind and start getting excited for this film. Welp - it did not. It has a made-for-TV look to it that I can’t get onboard with. And seriously that look for Fillion? Sheesh. Just one of the many things in this trailer that you can get away with in a comic but just doesn’t translate to live action. I love Superman and want to like this film but I’m not optimistic.

Jonathan Llyr

This is literally the first full feature length superhero movie

James Bottas

Fair enough!

Blane Mather

Realizing it was John Williams score gave me actual chills.

Michael Metrick

I'm so jaded with Hollywood these days and so tired of remakes or reboots that i never have hope for movies everyone always wanting to take something people love, abandon lore and infuse their agenda into it. Also I'm surprisingly not "super" into super hero movies but I do like the original Reeves Superman movies, and I love Smallville, THE best Lex Luthor has been Michael Rosenbaum, NO ONE has been able to able to match his portrayal.

Sequiro

We are going to watch both of them in release order, so we will watch the theatrical then after watching returns we will watch the Donnor cut

Josh (Target Audience)

Yikes

Forbidden Donut

Well this is a pleasant surprise. I love the homage to the John Williams score from the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

Collin Freeman

I am unreasonably excited for this film! If you watch the remaining 3 Christopher Reeve led Superman movies, understand that they all can't match the power and quality of that first one. I have two suggestions though. First, understand that after doing such a magnificent job directing Superman: The Movie, Richard Donner was about 60% done with filming Superman 2, when the studio fired him for taking too long. They replaced him with Richard Lester, a not as talented but significantly cheaper director. Gene Hackman protested by refusing to shoot any more scenes. So you have two choices. You can watch the theatrical release, which among many sins features a Lex Luthor stand-in shot from behind, and the loss of some shots Donner filmed. Or you can watch Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut which was assembled many years later using footage from the cutting room floor, rehearsal shots and a scene or two missing some post production work. You'll get suggestions to watch either, but my recommendation is to watch the Donner Cut. It's closer in spirit to Superman: The Movie, and doesn't have the fake Lex Luthor problem. Second recommendation: after you get through Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, I highly recommend you go ahead and watch Superman Returns (2006) as it was meant to be a continuation of the Christopher Reeve storyline, and Brandon Routh does a really great job of channeling Reeve in the dual Clark/Superman role. Plus Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is a bit of casting brilliance! Have fun!

Blane Mather

If you are watching all the SUPERMAN movies, don't forget Superman and the Mole Men from the 50s.

Mark Chrisco

This. As stupendously great as Hans Zimmer's and Henry Cavill's take were, there can be no comparison to John Williams and Christopher Reeve IMHO.

The Ninth Doctor

Krypto’s live action superman debut I believe? 🤔

LonghillAndy

We’ve both seen Man of Steel several times but we will cover it in some form either with a commentary or discussion

Josh (Target Audience)

I love the musical callback to the theme from the 78 movie. That got the 9 year old me feeling it again

Jeffrey

Superman is my guy. Grew up in the 80s with Chris Reeve and no other superhero comes close for me. Classic supes encapsulates my childhood. Him and Optimus Prime. Both blue and red. Coincidence?

Chris Christison

Superman is my favorite fictional character. This is perfect. Awesome that ya'll will be working through the other films

Anthony MacEwan

Are you guys going to watch Man of Steel as well? Or just the Christopher Reeves ones?

Derek Orr

Apparently that is the haircut that character is supposed to have

Derek Orr

The opening guitar chords were giving major Flash Gordon vibes

Carl Davies

Loved Superman since seeing the Chris Reeve movie in the cinema when I was a kid and I’m also still in mourning for Superman and Lois that’s just finished on the CW so this teaser has got me pumped for this, roll on July 11.

Martin Wilson

Same reason Alex is skeptical. I think it’s a fair point. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds

Josh (Target Audience)

I'm pretty skeptical. I think Gunn won't be able to help himself from keeping the tone too flippant or goofy, and in general I don't trust Hollywood much at all anymore. Also what an awful wig/haircut they stuck on Nathan Fillion to make me not take his character seriously at all, which if he is who I read he is, is a choice I don't care for at all on the face of it.

Forbidden Donut

Ive always been into Superman as a hero he has always been the goal. basically unstoppable but raised in a way that he is moral and good. Cant wait to see the videos of you watching all the movies.
