UNCUT - The Outer Limits (60s) S2E5 - Demon With A Glass Hand

FULL EPISODE FOR SYNCING IS FREE ON YOUTUBE

We chose this episode to be the first to check out for The Outer Limits because it is written by Harlan Ellison!

Let us know other episodes of the series to watch

We have now watched every series we will be covering in Season 1 of The Horror Gallery. We are taking a short detour to watch some holiday horror content and will be returning to these series in early 2025!

UNCUT - The Outer Limits (60s) S2E5 - Demon With A Glass Hand

The version on YouTube has advertisements. Does yours have advertisements? It would be difficult to sync with your reaction. I was able to find a version without advertisements on Amazon video. When the hand talked about recording things on a wire, early voice recorders recorded voice on magnetized wire instead of magnetic tape.

Consuela was Spock's WIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Nemo

The tv show THE WILD WILD WEST has tons of crazy fight stunts. Check it out.

Not the best of The Outer Limits imo.

Michael Nemo

I know they end up on YouTube but I’d rather have the early option . Cheers again

Steve the greeeen hand

Could guys give us the cut and uncut versions (lol) of the video to Patreon ? I love watching but I think I’ve watched along like twice . Just a thought cheers

This was pretty decent! Poor Consuela though, easy in love easy out of love. What do you think she would be like after that? Forever on the lookout for aliens or other robot men from the future probably.

Connor Fallon

Here is another Star Trek TOS connection the assistant director for this episode (He would do 20 episodes on the Outer Limits) was Robert H. Justman who would become associate producer and co-producer for the first 2.5 half season of TOS.

Jeffrey Lindenblatt

Harlan Ellison was on hand during the production of this episode. If you remember the stunt where Trent makes that long jump from the staircase, the stunt coordinator thought it was too dangerous, but Ellison felt it was the only way Trent could beat the elevator to the ground floor. Well, against the coordinator's advice, Harlan tried the stunt himself, fracturing his ankles upon landing and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Wow. I remember my dad talking about this series. They must have syndicated it later because it's before my time. So great to see T'Pring! That was fun. Thanks boys! 🖖

A whole hour-long video and not even ONE "talk to the hand" joke?? #ReactionFail

So much of this era had uncredited actors, I think the voice of the glass hand was the same actor as Korab from the TOS episode Catspaw. Not sure where you two are with the Terminator franchise, but if you also watch Outer Limits season 2 episode 1, "Soldier", you will know why Harlan Ellison gets a writing credit for Terminator despite never having worked on it.

Alan Thompson

“City on the Edge of Forever” was heavily re-written and there are some famous stories about how and why that you can look up. Not much of Ellison’s original script was left so that might explain why this didn’t pack the emotional punch you might have been expecting. Check out BLADE RUNNER again if you’re interested in the famous building in “Glass Hand.” While Demon is a famous and highly regarded episode of OUTER LIMITS that I enjoy it’s not one of my favourites. Most of those are in Season One. I left a list of those when you initially asked for recommendations so I hope you still have them!

It's my favorite OL episode, too

Yes, it is that famous building, the Bradley Building, you are referring to, Josh. Built in 1893 in Los Angeles. It was also used in Blade Runner, 500 Days of Summer, and The Night Strangler, among others. This was also turned into a graphic novel adaptation by comic book artist Marshal Rogers in 1986.

I'm so glad you watched this, one of my favorite Outer Limits episodes. Robert Culp was a well known leading man in the 1960's. Before she had me watching Star Trek in 1966, one of my Mom's favorite shows was a 1964 TV show called "My Living Doll", starring Culp and Julie Newmar. It's a sitcom about a psychiatrist who ends up caring for an android that is being passed off as a human woman. And hilarity ensued. I've seen a number of episodes on YouTube... it's 'aight. 🤪

You might recognize Arlene Martel portraying Consuelo. She is best remembered as T'Pring, Spock's fiancé.

Outer Limits doesn't get the love that Twighlight Zone gets but I actually preferred OL to TZ. OL is definitely Sci Fi Horror while TZ was more philosophical. Definitely lots of great episodes some good some meh and a few clunkers but even the clunkers had fun or interesting concepts. Only problem with OL is not nearly as many people watched OL so your audience watching along will not be as potentially large as TZ or Star Trek

Sherman Lin

Robert Culp was all over television from about 1950-2010. Best known as FBI agent Bill Maxwell on "The Greatest American Hero" and CIA agent Kelly Robinson on "I, Spy" (opposite Bill Cosby.)
