Babylon 5: S1.E20 ∙ Babylon Squared. This is the episode I use to HOOK people on B5 that gave up on it early.

Wrestling With Gaming

Oops, no two-parters! Sorry, guys.

Joe Concepts

Babylon 5 3x10 Severed Dreams - well-paced episode and some of that great 90's CGI

Kosh Naranek

It's not billed as a "Part 1" each episode has a complete story, there's just flow from one into the next.

Nolan

This is a very unique episode that would be satisfying to see them watch even if they never watch another Buffy episode. Remember that it’s just one episode.. not a whole series, otherwise I would be pushing more for Farscape.

TalynStarburst

Battlestar Galactica episode 10 please

Matthew Rudolph

I love both shows and would be happy if they continued either. I chose to suggest Buffy even though I suspect they'd like B5 better because I couldn't think of a standalone B5 episode. It's a completely serialized show, so... Naturally, the first B5 episode someone posted (Passing Through Gethsemane) proved me wrong, and could work well enough on its own. I also voted for that one.

Buffy over Babylon 5? Really? Because of Halloween or what? - I mean ... I love Buffy ... but ...

Adam from Germany

The Expanse - S02 E02 - Doors and Corners Epic ship battle scene, great political tension, hints at what's happened but leaves enough mystery, hints at what's to come but doesn't spoil the shows paradigm shift, Miller's cold-ass final scene... If anyone else is interested in the Expanse but has a better stand alone episode, please add on!

LoTeq

Farscape, maybe “Avenging Angel,” since it is so unique.

Frank Tagader

Love this guys, thanks for putting this idea out there. My episode choice is Battlestar Galactica sesaon 3 episode 15 titled Dirty Hands. (some sites mark it as ep 16). This is "hands down" the best episode IMO. It is one most of us can relate to as humans. So I implore everyone here to vote for BSG: Dirty Hands. :) Thank you for your consideration.

Echo Moon

Battlestar Galactica "Blood on the Scales" Season 4, Episode 14. A masterpiece.

Gavin Scott

Buffy "School Hard"

Owen Madden

It's a good choice... but incomplete without the 2 episodes that bookend it.

Owen Madden

Good episode... not great, though. I personally wouldn't use it as a selling point for the show, although that closing scene ALWAYS gets me.

Blane Mather

You may be right.

The Clone Wars: S7E12 - "Victory and Death". The last episode of the series.

The Ninth Doctor

That episode is the first of two parts and as I understood it, they said no two part and any single episode of our choice as long as it was not a two-parter

Thicketdweller

Clone Wars Season 7 episode 9. It's tough because the Clone Wars goes in story arcs, but if I had to pick just one episode to try and get you to watch more, I think that's it. It's the start of the final story arc which takes place just before and during Episode 3.

Joshua Hartman

Babylon 5, Season 1 Episode 10 "Believers."

Paul O'Neal

Quantum Leap S3 E7--Black on White on Fire

John Zelinka

Battlestar Galactica Season 2 Episode 1 Yes you stopped too early (A.K.A. You shouldn't have stopped) This serseries has to be watched in order. Watching it out of order would be confusing and full of spoilers.

startrekiborg

Quantum Leap S2E22 " M.I.A." Simply one of the best episodes of TV ever aired. The problem with choosing a single episode of QL is not ruining the experience if you decide to jump back in. M.I.A. is the perfect stand alone example of how great the show really was without spoiling the series IMO.

Skipper Martin

Quantum Leap - 4x01 “The Leap Back”

Jonathan

Babylon 5, season 1, episode "Signs and Portents"

tyranusfan

BSG S2 ep9 flight of the phoenix

Thicketdweller

I just remember being pretty ho-hum about Farscape until this episode.

Juan Tutrífor

Excellent choice, felling love Farscape and one of my favorite episodes. I was initially thinking an episode from season 1 might be better, but I guess this episode isn't that spoilery, and I'm sure they'll appreciate all the practical effects and mix of comedy/seriousness that showcases what the show is like pretty well. So let's go Farscape fans!

Murtaugh

The Walking Dead - Pretty Much Dead Already (S2E7)

Katie Jackson

Babylon 5 - s1E1 - Midnight on the Firing Line

Blane Mather

Babylon 5, S1 E9, Deathwalker

Julie Carter

Farscape - Crackers Don't Matter.

Juan Tutrífor

Edited - Babylon 5 - A late delivery from Avalon.

Linda Thackeray

Breaking Bad S1E2, Josh seemed to really enjoy it. My second favorite show ever after DS9

Phil Ken Sebben

Buffy s4e10 Hush.

Babylon 5 Passing Thru Gethsemane. It can be watched as a somewhat standalone episode (as much as any B5 episode can be considered standalone) and it does a great job of showing B5's balanced and powerfully dramatic portrayal of societal issues, religion, etc.
