To me, I don't distinguish between dialog and what you call technobabble. It's all part of the story... if they explain a problem using scientific language that makes sense to me... good. But we've all got to suspend a certain level of disbelief.

🤣

TOS concerned itself with the mission and how the characters behaved to said mission. TNG got more personal with its characters, and we got to see them off hours pursuing interests not related to their jobs (painting, playing poker, music, kayaking, holodeck adventures etc). This gave the show a much more personal feel as we (the viewers) saw them beyond a professional capacity. As such, they felt more rounded and more real.

To my fellow subscribers: Those of you that can't help but hint at spoilers because you love those "coy" things that you say..... please, just stop. My comment is not specific to anything mentioned in this video.... but I've noticed things in the past, and our guys here have taken another moment in this video to tell us to stop hinting at spoilers. So.... just.... stop. Find something else to say. You know, I seem to remember Josh and Alex asking us not to reprimand anyone regarding spoilers.... but I've already typed this out, and it would be such a waste to delete it. Besides, I didn't call anyone out by name. Alright, alright, I won't click "POST." ..... unless I do so, accidentally... Whoops.....

You mentioned the romance in The Price between Troi and Ral. Wasn't this episode written by a woman? That would certainly give a different perspective to a story, especially a love story.

O'Brien was in Encounter at Farpoint and other episodes in season one, although he didn't get a name until season 2 or 3 IIRC

Guys, it's normal to respect Kirk the most. He is "The Captain" of the Star Trek franchise. I mean, it's the only Trek actor that actually went to space!

StonyD

100% - indirect spoilers.

MrDeadstu

I agree with Josh in terms of how I regard season 1, 2, and 3.

Collin Freeman

Many are the stories of individuals who watched a Star Trek series (TOS, TNG, etc) as a kid, and grew up to be an engineer, physician, astronaut, etc. due to their seeing and loving Star Trek.

You get a Stanley nickel for that reply

Hear hear

JD Nevesytrof

we gotta stop these "what would you think if [insert character/race] makes another appearance?" and "do you want to see more of [insert character/race]?"...

James Bottas

The same as the ratio of unicorns to leprechauns

Josh (Target Audience)

The season that TNG got firm on its feet. No longer high production value fan film homages to TOS.

J Potter

Still waiting for the Acolyte Autopsy......I mean Review...... ;P

James Knight

Quick, someone photoshop up Les Landru

JD Nevesytrof

What is the ratio of videos talking about episodes/ranking them compared to watching them 🤔

Colm Meaney was also in Encounter at Farpoint, the pilot, as the well, pilot while they're waiting for Geordie LaForge to come aboard.
