I have clearly chosen data and law, as it literally is one of the single most gut wrenching scenes of the entire series. However, my honorable mention goes to the look beneath commander Riker’s mask as he’s talking to Troy about his sense of becoming complacent on the enterprise in the best of both worlds part one and that single moment of true vulnerability

2024-08-13 01:54:26 +0000 UTCThe dialogue between Data and Lal is very good and emotionally moving, but I give the very slight edge to Picard and Jarok, probably because I love that episode so much. I think the reason their exchange sticks with me is because when I first saw the episode I expected Picard to be understanding and Jarok to be straightforward, but it's actually the reverse. Picard very bluntly confronts Jarok about his situation, and Jarok surprises us with a very tender story about his love for his daughter. And both actors completely sell it with their performances. All the dialogue is excellent, but Jarok's speech has a lot of great parallels in its structure that make it especially memorable.

2024-08-12 18:53:10 +0000 UTCThe Best of Both Worlds, I think has the best dialogue of the season... for the whole episode.

2024-08-12 17:19:43 +0000 UTCI don't remember any of these. Best dialogue I think I have to go with either Picard telling the other captain the war is lost and she needs to go back and die, and her brave reaction to that, Guinan telling Yar she doesn't belong, or Picard telling that kid nobody is alone on his ship and the kid being brave. Of course the best dialogue was the Troi stuff they cut from that same episode.

2024-08-12 15:41:29 +0000 UTCAbsolutely LOVE Picard’s monologue to Jarok in “The Defector”. That whole scene between the two is some of the best writing I’ve ever witnessed! And that final showdown with Tomalak has to be one of the most re-watched scenes in nerd-porn history!

2024-08-12 15:37:27 +0000 UTCLal was kind of amazing. She even got the whole revelation that feelings suck - "**This** is what it means to feel" - and still thanks him for her life.

2024-08-12 15:09:32 +0000 UTCHonorable mention - Picard explaining to Nuria that they're the same, just at different stages of development

2024-08-12 13:45:15 +0000 UTCHonorable mentions would have to be Picard’s confrontation of Kevin Uxbridge at the end of The Survivors and Picard and Guinan’s talk in Ten Forward prior to the Borg battle in Best of Both Worlds.

2024-08-12 13:31:56 +0000 UTCData and Lal was the first time I cried to a Star Trek episode. One of my favourites for Data's story arc.

2024-08-12 13:31:36 +0000 UTCThe final Data and Lal dialogue takes the prize. Honorable mention would be the Picard-Guinan scene in "Yesterday's Enterprise" (not included on this list). Why guys? "Not good enough, dammit! Not good enough!" lol

2024-08-12 13:30:17 +0000 UTCThat's tough. I'd sayy neck and neck between Jarok and Picard, and Data and Lal. Strangely, they both touch on the same subject matter. To be a parent. My runner up would be the Ten Forward scene between Barclay and Geordi. For someone who dealt with the same issues as him, it hits the bullseye. Dwight Schultz is a master at character acting.

2024-08-12 13:27:46 +0000 UTCHow could Picard's epic dialogue with the Ferengi on Risa NOT be on this list??? lol

2024-08-12 13:23:37 +0000 UTCThis is a hard one to choose but in the end Lal and Data takes it for me.

2024-08-12 13:15:06 +0000 UTCThere were so many great moments this season. For me the conversation between Barclay & Geordi in Ten Forward really resonated along with Data calling out the name-calling in an earlier scene.

2024-08-12 13:12:09 +0000 UTCHonorable mention for Shelby and Riker in the turbolift. “If you cannot make the big decisions Commander, I suggest you make room for someone who can”

2024-08-12 13:07:30 +0000 UTCYou already betrayed your people, Admiral! You've made your choices, sir! You're a traitor! Now, if the bitter taste of that is unpalatable to you, I am truly sorry. But I will not risk my crew because you think you can dance on the edge of the Neutral Zone. 🔥🔥🔥
