This episode is definitely very exposition heavy. I will say, the whole "what happened to Jon Arryn?" thing and the mystery surrounding that was one of the most captivating things to me when I first watched this episode. As someone else mentioned its almost like a noir mystery novel at some points as Ned is trying to put the pieces together.

Don’t worry about remembering all the names. Most people I know could only remember a handful of names and just referred to the others by nicknames like “beardo” or “the dick” or “red haired girl’s mom”

GOT is in many ways a mystery novel disguised as medieval fantasy. First they drop a quickly forgotten eyebrow raising remark. Then later a number of dots for you to connect, and lastly they reveal all in jaw dropping spectacle. Don't worry about the exposition, it's as much there to obscure a foretelling of what's to come as it is to world build. If you can't keep up 100%, don't worry, it's all made explicitly clear in due time.

People get polarized on the introduction to Sam Tarly’s character because audiences typically want to like winners. John Bradley is just too good at this role I think. He is a good juxtaposition to Jon's life experience, they even have similarities. I have a soft spot for cripples, bastards, and broken things as well.

Another excellent episode, which is a waste of time to keep on saying since they all are. My favorite scene this week is Kat, who is still driving this bus and will get out and push this story along if that's what it takes, and Ned beginning to put the pieces of what is happening in Kings Landing together meeting Robert's son. In hindsight it was all right there all along, only we didn't realize it.
