Comments

If you think about it, Picard had a good time because it was essentially a "real life" Dixon Hill adventure.

Hunter

Picard carried and displayed the Hard on...😐

Hunter

And the streak has come to an end... Until the next streak 😏. Believe me guys it's coming 😁. This one never really did it for me either but there are some good moments with the crew so there's that. Thanks for the reaction.

Yeah I had to check the dates because we got cartoons at different times in the UK. Plus a lot of things got bumped up onto bigger channels and re-run becoming big years after their US debuts.

Leyton Jay

True. This episode debuted in early 1990. "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" debuted in 1991, Lara Croft in the "Tomb Raider" video game in 1996.

I have always really enjoyed this episode. In watching the TA guys and two other YouTubers who have recently all been around this part of season 3, I’ve probably watched three reactions to this now and seen the episode twice in the last month as well. Yesterday’s Enterprise may be top shelf and super rewatchable, but I can also watch Captain’s a holiday anytime and enjoy it. Everyone has their preferences, and that’s fine, but it is interesting to see someone literally so turned off by an episode. I’ve done that with a few episodes of shows or movies out there that really rubbed me the wrong way on the first viewing, or many viewings, but often for me it’s more based on emotion than anything else. A movie I can’t stand after repeated efforts to try and find something meaningful in it? Vertical Limit with Bill Paxton and Chris O’Donnell. Can’t stand that movie for so many reasons. But then for a long time I couldn’t even get through one complete viewing of the Italian Job with Mark Walberg and the gang. Years later I am fine with it now, but for ten years, couldn’t get through it even once. Anyway, glad I can enjoy Captain’s Holiday and won’t care that someone else doesn’t. The TA guys may feel the relationship seems forced (I won’t disagree on that one too much), but I know that girl reactors tend to enjoy this episode because they are just desperate for Picard to get some kind of relationship here or there. Thankfully there are better relationship specific episodes down the road to look forward to. I like this episode like I enjoy Golden Girls Reruns. 80s early 90s pastel colors, tropical environment, laid back no stress vacation comfort food.

Why didn’t he hand off direction duties if he was severely ill? Bro thought this episode was his Jordan flu game 💀

Josh (Target Audience)

They clearly liked the opening Enterprise scenes a lot. The underlying problem may have been that Chip Chalmers was severely ill while shooting the Risa scenes, and Alex and Josh are such keen analysts of film and television by now that they picked up on the resulting lackluster direction of those scenes.

Anthony Bernacchi

I think they were okay with it, until "The Punch"

Jovet

The weird thing was...watching it in the full reaction...it seemed like you guys were liking it. Lol

Greg Quinn

I agree that their chemistry seemed forced. But they ended up together in real life so I guess it might be down to direction. But the reaction to a "fun" episode was predictable. As is the reaction to a certain S4 episode.

The actress always reminded me a bit of Carey Lowell from the James Bond movie Licence to Kill. "Patrick Stewart took (part story) credit for having thought up (part of) the idea... 'I said I've got a feeling our audience might like to see the captain just getting blown away by meeting somebody new.'" Josh stated that he hated the chemistry between the woman and Picard; on one website, I just read this statement: "Patrick Stewart and (the Vash actress) Jennifer Hetrick dated throughout parts of Star Trek: The Next Generation's run and were reportedly engaged during (part of the show's run) ... although they never married." Brent Spiner does an impression of Patrick Stewart, talking about Patrick's "many wives."

I once received a “Harga’hn” as a gift. Unfortunately I have to say that it doesn't work. 😔😉

Björn W.

Thing is, I kinda enjoy the episode, but I didn't think any of your criticism are wrong. It's probably nostalgia.

Jason the Dave

Yes this is before Lara Croft, I thought maybe Carmen San Diego could be an influence for Vash, but this precedes her too.

Leyton Jay

I like that they're *honest*. I don't like the specifics of their reaction, though.

Jovet

Josh looks so angry. Alex looks so bored and disappointed. Love the honest reactions.

Bob M

Oh thanks so much for posting this right now, I'm drunk and I'm happy after a great day and I wanna see some guys watch Star Trek!

Leyton Jay

Anything is possible, but I don't think you're going to get much pushback even in the YouTube comments for this one. I don't think it makes many people's worst episode lists because it's not actively bad, but the second half of the episode is one long "who cares?"

Robert Hutchinson

This is one of my favorites!!!! Just kidding…😎 Yep, a definite Meh episode.

Joseph Wallace

You’ll have to let us know! We won’t be looking 😃

Josh (Target Audience)

😁

Silk

The YouTube comments, oh that will be a fun sight.

JGoss

Picard's face in that thumbnail says it all 😬😅
