SOME IMPORTANT STUFF

Hope everyone had a great week. Almost all of you were understanding of our week off and wished us a relaxing break; thank you for that. Another reminder of how amazing this community is. Here is some stuff to note:

I thought it may be helpful for those who only usually watch Star Trek with us to get a better idea of our movie tastes. Here is a short summary for each of us.

ALEX

Loves psychological thrillers, 80s-2010s horror, and character dramas. Enjoys complex narratives, multi-layered plots and intense atmospheres. Has a preference for isolated films that take place in one location and depend on character acting. He also appreciates well-crafted dramas and action films. While he will enjoy slower-paced movies with a strong narrative and payoff, he tends to dislike those that fail to engage him with a strong hook. TOP 3 MOVIES - Shutter Island, The Shining, The Thing

JOSH

Interested in most genres, but specifically loves horror, psychological thrillers, musicals, & comedies. He appreciates imaginative storytelling and engaging characters, often gravitating towards films with strong emotional beats and unique premises. He seeks out movies with innovative concepts and film techniques as well as a sense of wonder that blends humor and heart. However, he tends to dislike movies that feel thematically outdated, lack a compelling narrative, have flat/static characters, or fail to deliver on their premise. TOP 3 MOVIES - Arrival, Inception, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

BUMMER I was really hoping to see a live reaction to the season 3 finale

AmmaLeslie

Not here in Europe. Because of the initial 2 year TV broadcast delay for TNG here, when seasoson 3 ended......season 4 started the very next week.

Numinous2019

I really enjoy that film 👍👍👍

Jovet

Big fan of The Wolf Man, just got it on 4K!

Josh (Target Audience)

Are you sure you can wait that long to see season 4 episode 1????

Reality Strikes

That 3 week break, though standard is going to be extremely painful. Better than several months when the show was running, but it's gonna hurt.

ijp8834

Love to see you guys tackle some old school universal monsters or Hammer Harry gotta respect the past to appreciate the future

Scarpad’s Domain

Well 3 weeks are better than us OG’s had to wait

Scarpad’s Domain

Since it’s a lottery, the same movie selection across multiple people increases the odds, right? If so, I’ll add my vote with those who picked “Master and Commander.”

Tom Occhipinti

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)!

Anthony Goodwin

Hey I have an idea how about you give me the list of 100 patreon members who haven't submitted an entry and I'll just submit my pick 100 times? What do you 🤔 think? Anyway just a thought. You guys are doing a bang up job Cheers 🍻

Sherman Lin

Nevermind, I actually checked the lists and you've both seen it. Voting for Halloween (1986) then.

LMPGames

Can’t see it on the list anywhere. If not seen already I’ll go with Se7en (1995)

Jon1701

So many great movies on your list you haven’t seen, but definitely Kalifornia! It’s the only movie I ever liked Brad Pitt’s performance (besides Fight Club) and for spoilerish reasons I can’t say, you’ll find a reason to really enjoy it.

Glenn Johnson Barnes

i don't cling to the bad memories.

Jovet

We will do that!

Josh (Target Audience)

Are Trekkies (1997) and Trekkies 2 (2004) on your radar? Both are official theatrically released documentaries, distributed by Paramount - and are fascinating & often funny looks at Trek fandom culture. Would be amazing if you reacted to them at the appropriate times in the release order timeline.

Matt Everkoul

The problem with free enterprise is there is no good version of it available. Robert Meyer Burnett REALLY wants to redo it and put it out in 4k but he can't the rights to do it which is a shame. BTW it's always fun to watch Rob rage about modern Trek, worth checking him out if you haven't.

Todd Pritchett

The mention of psychological thrillers with intense atmospheres made it jump right into my mind, but I think it is the surprise inclusion of the Broadway-style song and dance numbers that really makes it have something for each of you.

Regan

Josh (Target Audience)

I say 13th Floor as well. It was an underwatched, but ahead of its time concept film.

Zee Doctere

If not “The Exorcist”, then I recommend Richard Donner’s psychological horror masterpiece, “The Omen”! Put me down for that one! Thanks, Alex! 👍

Raphael Gaytan

Nope!

Josh (Target Audience)

Not for the movie lottery because I'm not TD tier. I just want to make sure you saw my comment on the YT Twilight Zone video about the movie "Free Enterprise". Two guys who are good friends and been Star Trek fans since they were kids, one day they meet William Shatner and somehow become friends. William Shatner plays (a version of) himself in the movie. Whether you do a reaction to it or watch it in your own time, I just want to make sure you knew this movie existed. Take care!

Drawkcabi

I'm not in the TD tier, but reading the description of your tastes in movies, I find myself wondering if either of you have ever seen "Arlington Road"?

Regan

Keep Courage in that case

Timothy Nikiforovs

We always take a 2-3 week break between seasons, you should've had that built in!!

Josh (Target Audience)

We have you down for Courage Under Fire, would you like to change? I believe Alex has seen Warrior

Josh (Target Audience)

A three week break? Oh you're gonna regret that. I finally wrote up my expected schedule for your viewings the rest of the year, now I'm gonna have to change it. 😀

Jovet

Josh (Target Audience)

My vote is Warrior (2011).

Timothy Nikiforovs

Hmmm.. I'll take a shot with John Sayles's 'Lone Star' (1996).

Dor

Nope!

Josh (Target Audience)

Great! Have either of you seen it? Look forward to your reaction whenever you get to it

Miki Ah Heong

Awesome! Fallen has been added!

Josh (Target Audience)

Just Upgraded!😀

I vote for "Solaris (1972)".

Movie Lottery is a benefit for TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC tier patrons, but thank you for the recommendations. We both LOVE Frailty! Don't be surprised to see a TA commentary for that film one day!

Josh (Target Audience)

Thanks Raphael! We have both seen The Exorcist! We both appreciate it with Josh enjoying it quite a bit. We haven't watched it together though. We could add this movie, or you could pick another, let us know!

Josh (Target Audience)

Movie Lottery is a benefit for TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC tier patrons

Josh (Target Audience)

To be clear, you get ONE movie. If your movie wins the lottery you do not get another.

Josh (Target Audience)

Can I suggest Victor/Victoria for Josh. Musical and one of the funniest movies I've ever seen with an amazing cast.

Linda Thackeray

I vote alfred hitchcock's lifeboat

Patrick Smith

If you haven't seen the movie "Identity" I highly recommend that. If you have, then "Dark City." If you have seen both...well done! Then I would suggest "Frailty."

Paul O'Neal

I have to submit a vote for my personal favorite horror movie of all time…”The Exorcist”! Josh and Alex, you guys don’t know me from Adam, but after watching TA for some time now…in another reality, I could have called you both friends! If you love good psychological horror, an Oscar-worthy cast, and excellent 1973 practical effects that still are unmatched by today’s CGI…and assuming you haven’t already seen it…this one will make one HELL of an impression! There’s a reason it’s been often copied but never duplicated!

Raphael Gaytan

Cool. I'll wait until after the one I admitted wins.

Monty Crawford

Hi Josh and Alex. After reading your likes. I would like to submit Fallen with Denzel Washington. But if you seen that one. Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson and Julia Robert’s. Both great movies in my humble opinion.

Miki Ah Heong

It’s posted to everyone because there is important info in the post beyond that one part.

Josh (Target Audience)

Movie Lottery is a benefit for TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC tier patrons

Josh (Target Audience)

Only one, but you can change it whenever you want.

Josh (Target Audience)

Whoops my bad. Surprised I'm even seeing this if I'm on the wrong tier. No worries!

Alexander McKechnie

Those 3 weeks between watching the end of TNG season 3 and starting 4.......should be interesting......(obviously this is spoiler territory).

Numinous2019

Can we put in more than one movie entry?

Monty Crawford

You're awake from cryo-sleep! Hope it was nice to unplug for a while.

StonyD

I vote for Highlander. There can be only one.

Badger

Movie Lottery is for TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC tier patrons, but there actually are several who have chosen Master and Commander!

Josh (Target Audience)

The tunnel of terror scene is unmatched to this day

Josh (Target Audience)

Done!

Josh (Target Audience)

Perhaps somewhere... in the Twilight Zone... 🚬

Juan Tutrífor

My favorite psychological thriller is also Willy Wonka.

JD Nevesytrof

Appreciate the info, and the info about your movie tastes! In that spirit, please might I change my film choice? I did have samurai cop but would like to change it to Primer

SinocTheHodgeheg

I vote for Master and Commander

Alexander McKechnie

I believe Kirk actually prefers walks in the town of Mayberry.

Josh (Target Audience)

Ooh nice idea long long time since I saw that

AzoriusMage

"Kirk likes long walks on a beach. Picard prefers a trip to the combination coffee/tea bar and library."

Juan Tutrífor

Already got you on there Eric!

Josh (Target Audience)

Exciting times to come! :)

Paul

I vote for "the 13th Floor"

Eric Singer
