It was an alright episode, I feel it's valid it wasn't an amazzzinngg episode.

SonicHiggs

I’ve been following since TOS days and have loved your perspective on every episode - some really good insights. I was very excited about this episode and appreciate your honesty, but have to say this was the first time I’ve been disappointed in the reaction, mostly because of my expectations and how great an episode I think it is (was also a little disappointed in the Wrath of Kahn reaction, but that’s just part of your “lore” now 😂. I’ve loved all your other movie reactions).

James T Cox

Hey, I've been a Patreon for like a year and a half😂 just messing with you guys(I have though🤷‍♀️🙂)I love the reactions. I agree with you guys on this episode. It's good but not great. I'm so excited for the rest of the season. We're getting close to the finale and I can't wait.

Katie Jackson

I will always respect another fan's opinion when they say they don't like an episode/movie. It's not your thing, not your fault. Oh well... Was I surprised that you didn't have the same reaction? Yes, but there's no point in verbally attacking you for it, because 1)it's your opinion and 2) why the hell should I really care that you didn't have the same emotional response that I did when I was a kid and saw this for the first time? Oh well, move to the next episode. There's so much ST TNG content that actually is better than Deja Q, that one episode is not going affect me. You do you, I'll keep watching

Firekrys FWO

I think that it's wild that saying this episode is "fine" is considered a hot take. The only thing good about it is the Q storyline, the rest of the episode is a throwaway story for the most part. It would have been better if they meshed both stories together more somehow instead of making them the usual A/B type of scenario.

LMPGames

I’m not going to talk about future episodes. Burn my point is that the track record so far doesn’t justify expecting that a Q episode is going to be better than the average episode, just because it’s a Q episode. So far, we have seen four. In my opinion, two of them were frankly bad episodes, and one was good mostly for reasons other than Q. This to me, of those four, has been the best episode of Q as a character himself.l, and is at the high end of the scale for Q episodes. At this point we have no reason to expect that they will be better than this, just because Q is in it.

Aramis Calcutt

This one is quite fun to see Q experience being human. Beyond those aspects it's not on my top list of episodes for season 3. Thanks as always for doing what you do my guys. 🖖

Dru Blood

Is Deja Q really a fan favorite? I think "Fine" is a pretty fitting description, it's a very middle of the road episode for me, not bad but not particularly good either. It's one of those that I don't mind watching but don't think about too much.

Phillip Grischa

Without the moon they are trying to fix what is to stop them from running from the Calamarine and keeping their shields up the moon gives reasons for them to drop them with Q's enemies waiting

Who Cares reallly

Did you guys really get verbally accosted lol? I hope my comment didn't come off that way. I enjoy all Q episodes but this one is definitely not my favorite one. I always get excited when I see Q because he's one of my favorite characters of Trek (I love the omnipotent trickster type characters in stories) and when you see Q you know you are always in for a good time, but this wasn't his best episode, I think it has one of his best moments, with his gift to Data, but there are better overall episodes.

Sequiro

Q episodes always feel like a bit of light relief. It was a decent but not amazing episode not sure why people can’t handle the fact that everyone isolated not the same.

AzoriusMage

It's perfectly reasonable for either or both of you to not like an episode that everybody likes, or the opposite. I'm here precisely because you two have a perspective that isn't my own.

SageGreenGoat

They really should have gone for take 2 on that one...

Brendon Waldron

Oh—it gets preachy.

Jovet

Maybe, just maybe, season 3 doesn't need Q to initiate a banger episode.....

Numinous2019

Alex is worried about the series now? C'mon now. I thought we weren't supposed to doubt you guys love the show.... it's ok if Deja Q didn't blow your hair back, beloved fan favorite though it may be it..

James Bottas

I think they both like it. My feeling is they both felt it was maybe a bit better than average just not great.

Greg Quinn

They definitely have their own opinions.

KatWithAttitude

“I was on the hunt for your mother, Trebek…”

Will Sofer

I’m going to be honest… While they definitely seemed to like a lot of the humor, I’ve never gotten the impression they truly “liked” the show. Like, at all. In fact, they seemed rather annoyed by a lot of it. Perhaps I’m mistaken.

Will Sofer

I was surprised you guys didn't like it, but I don't get offended by your opinions. Well, other than The Hunt for Red October...

Joe Concepts

I love Deja Q, but I'm not going to grumble because you guys just found it OK. Life would be pretty boring if everyone had the same uniform opinions about everything and at least you guys explain your reasonings clearly.

Menty

Well, you can't please everybody. Just take heart in the fact that they are watching and commenting. It increases your advertising index.

Monty Crawford

They finished watching TNG a few months ago.

KatWithAttitude

There are these two girls, Galifrey Gals, who are watching Red Dwarf. They were told the show only got good in season 3 when the show got a bigger budget. They liked it from the beginning.

Joe Ibrahim

You guys changed my mind about the first two seasons.

Joe Ibrahim

I agree.

Joe Ibrahim

I like it when reactors don't like a show/movie. Too many just tell their audience what they want to hear. Your honesty is an asset.

Joe Ibrahim

Q was at his peak in Q Who, topped only by one episode to come. Hands down. Full stop. Q was balanced perfectly as a frenemy in Q Who. There to teach the crew, for his own self-serving reasons.

Steven Johnson

YOU ARE OUT OF ORDER!

Steven Johnson

IMPOSSIBLE.

Steven Johnson

You mean you didn't enjoy the butthole mouth alien trying to pronounce "tsunami" without sharting?

Trouty McTroutTrout

I'm here to tell you right now... ...Spock was blind because of radiation.

Steven Johnson

I guarantee you these people are viewing this episode through the lens of having watched the whole series, and have forgotten how they felt about this the first time they watched it. Because very few people have watched TNG just the once.

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

I was only mildly miffed that you didn't love it as much as I do, but that's perfectly fine. On the flip side, I am one of those who doesn't hate how GoT ended and I get roasted for that, so there you go.

KatWithAttitude

Given some of the amazing episodes you've seen this season, recognizing as I do that Deja Q is mediocre earns you honesty points in my book. I love watching John DeLancie do anything, but that's often most of what's good about a Q episode. And of course Brent Spiner always delivers, whether his stuff is good or corny. So please just be honest and as long as you love all the same episodes as I do we're all good.

Paul Hess

Your editing and SFX are getting better and better. Q was this awesome adversary in Encounter at Farpoint and somehow turned him into a comedy character by this point (s3). No longer a threat. I mean I love the character and the actor but I like him with a bit of jeopardy eg The Borg’s apple core beam taking a piece of the saucer full of people. It’s a bit flaccid to see him doing lighthearted comedy. I wonder if Q making Data laugh screwed up Lal’s software!

Smear Campaign

Brothers and sisters are natural enemies. Like Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans. Or Lord of the Rings fans and Star Trek fans. Or Star Trek fans and Star Trek fans. Damn Star Trek fans! They ruined Star Trek!!

Juan Tutrífor

If it’s any consolation, I’ve never cared for this episode either. And I’ve gotten the same spiel from other fellow Trekkies. John de Lancie is a good actor, to be sure, but even that can’t save every script.

Will Sofer

The majority of Q episodes are light hearted and I kinda feel you guys don’t dig the comedic shows as much as the dramatic ones

Scarpad’s Domain

Also, S3ep17 is going to touch upon this point too so the timing is impeccable guys!

Steve Krautkramer

IMO, a Q episode is just another episode of the show. Taking them all as a group, I don’t think there’s any reason to expect more from a Q episode than any other handful of average episodes. Given that, this is I think the best written Q episode. And also the best performed. Yeah sure “Q Who” was a landmark episode, but that was because it introduced the Borg. I don’t particularly think Q was particularly good in it. And the other two Q episodes we have seen—“Encounter at Fairpoint” and “Hide and Q,” those are episodes I would skip on rewatch. Pretty below average Trek.

Aramis Calcutt

Don’t listen to haters. I liked the episode but if you all weren’t feeling it, that’s fine. One of the special things I find with Star Trek is it welcomes and celebrates differences without being overly preachy. Having differences in opinions yet still loving the show, to me, is part of what it’s all about.
