No comparison to Wrath of Kahn?

Some of these episodes had alternate working titles:
"The Defector": "A Question of Trust"
"The Price": "A Price Far Above Rubies"
"The Enemy": "The Mettle of Man"
"The Survivors": "The Veiled Planet"
"All Our Yesterdays": "A Handful of Dust"
Would any of these have been better, do you think? "The Mettle of Man" was surely a non-starter, since it's much too similar to "The Measure of a Man."

I've watched all your Star Trek reactions, and it's interesting to me that I can't recall a reaction where the two of you really disagreed about an episode. To my knowledge there hasn't been an instance where one of you loves an episode and the other hates it. If it ever happens, it will be fun to see.

"The Hunted"
"The Defector"
"The Price"
"The Enemy"
"Booby Trap"
"The Bonding"
"The Survivors"
"Evolution"
These episode title names are lame! Coming up with the name of a title for an episodes should the easiest thing ever.
It also makes it more difficult to remember what the episode is about. Sort of like "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" and "Return to Tomorrow" and "All Our Yesterdays" for a new person watching the original series.

I liked this more than most. At least this had some element of danger and conflict. I'll take that over Amish Vulcans any day.

Could the substances that were added to Daynar’s cellular structure have interfered with the transport process? Rather than escape from the transporter, I think Daynar was able to change where he rematerialized. 4/10

James Cromwell played Stretch Cunningham. He’s six foot seven.

I like this episode fairly well. I'm big on prison reform/abolition so of course it was up my alley, but it's the first time Star Trek TNG tried to do mostly action and it's not too shabby. TOS had its own episode that had mental conditioning and a carceral environment, buuuuut... It was a TOS episode with James T. Kirk being James T. Kirk, and any semblance of message was diluted into a campy mess of overacting and Gary Stuness; so I was kinda happy to see some of those themes revisited, albeit very differently, in a series and season where it's easier to take things seriously, in my opinion.

Between 1986 and 2005, James Cromwell was married to Julie Cobb who has the distinction of being the first and only female redshirt to die in the classic series in the episode "By Any Other Name". She was previously married to the actor Victor French from Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven. Julie Cobb was the daughter of Lee J. Cobb (1911–1976) who played angry Juror #3, the last guilty juror, in Twelve Angry Men.

I think this is a decent episode. Not spectacular by any means, but a good middle of the road episode.

I think this one resonates more poorly 30 years later. At the time, the trauma of the Vietnam War draft was more culturally front and centre with the general age range of the viewership. That carried the episode more than the execution did. It’s Star Trek’s First Blood but falls flat.

I think one of the biggest downsides to this episode that kind of killed it for me is Roga Danar’s ability to break the transporter. In my opinion, the transporter should never have been able to be used in this episode. From a logical perspective if you have nothing to lock onto, you have nothing to transport. Aside from that I did think it was a fairly decent episode, not saying it’s a top 10 or a favorite but if I am doing a Star Trek binge, it’s definitely one I will watch. 🤣

I am surprised you both clearly haven't seen any of James Cromwell's best know films. The man was the US President, played a major role in the Earth's development, ran one of the 20th Century's biggconglomerate conglomerates, raised the first sheep pig, battled 1950's L.A. mobsters, etc. Show some respect, dudes.

Once, just once, I'd like to see Worf contain the problem and the rest of the episode following the crew able to catch up with all their daily chores. Boring, yes. But Worf always has to be out fought or out witted to keep the story going. Michael Dorn deserved better.

But Roga Danar outsmarted Picard and had really great hair! (a reference to something a million miles down rhe road on your Trek journey. )

Yeah it is, and one I happen to like! Fortunately for me, I don't need any reactor's validation on that. Keep up the good work, fellas!
