This has easily been my favourite episode so far!!!
Which one? Because I remember an episode where Goldie showed up riding a bear and ready to shoot Scrooge.

You and Elijah have a lot of work to do if you're going to recreate Scrooge and Goldie's wedding..

It's impressive to me how in Goldie's first appearance there's nothing to hint at her being Doofus's grandmother.

I look forward to when we next meet Goldie. And Louie discovers she removed her heart because she refused to let feeling get in the way of a score.

If I remember correctly, those Rainbow Caves were actually a reference to a now extinct attraction at Disneyland.

I think the reason Scrooge and Goldie give Holmes/Addler vibes is because even though Scrooge isn't really a Holmes type character, it's the fact that she's probably the only person in the world able to keep up with him, in a similar way to Irene Addler being one of only two people in the world as smart as Holmes.

“You loved gold more than you loved me.”
“And that’s WHY you loved me.”
This show just *gets* Scrooge.

Somehow I knew you were gonna love her. There's something about the trope of the absolute badass getting frequently bested by his female fatale counterpart. I'm always a sucker for the rivals who are secretly / not-so-secretly in love with eachother.
Of course her Rebellious streak gets kicked into Turbo when project J.E.T. gets involved.
I'm glad to see the ducks put a smile on your face and you found your favorite episode so far. It's nice having an escape.

She was in a few episodes of the '87 cartoon as well. Less an outright villain and more a rival through misunderstandings and a third individual swindling them both. She popped up a few more times but their relationships never got more than romantic in the show. Though she did have feelings enough for Scrooge to break up his wedding to another golddigging scammer.

According to the '87 show it was also only the first part of his fortune. In the episode 'Once Uppon a Dime' we hear his whole story and how his first fortune was in the gold rush, but his second came when he struck oil in Oklahoma, after that he had sustainable wealth to grow his buisness ventures even further.

No she was in an episode of the OG cartoon too. I remember seeing her there, though this version is definitely more interesting.

19:40 Scrooge said "A century's worth". So just one century. They're not THAT old. Also, Goldie O'Gilt is a character from the Scrooge McDuck comics, who both flirted with Scrooge, and served as his arch rival in his attempts to strike it rich in the gold rush. I believe it was more focus on the rivalry than the romance back then, and she was more of a clear villain, with Scrooge foiling her plan to steal everyone's claim and then trying to get revenge on him years later. I think the show's version is a lot more interesting.

The gold rush they're referring to is the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska and the Yukon, which took place in 1896-1899. Scrooge earned his fortune by taking part of it, that's been his origin since the comics. So while he was an average aged old man back in the comics, they've had to find excuses to age him up even more, beyond what's humanly possible, to keep said origin. Hence, the demon dimension.

At some point, I'd love to see you do a one-off reaction to a couple episodes of the 1987 cartoon. I can only imagine that seeing what the triplets, Webby, Lena, Beakley, Duckworth, Gyro, and even Goldie and Glomgold were all like back then will absolutely break you.

This was so much fun to follow you with! :D I don't have anything insightful to add, just wanted to let you know I loved it. I hope this fantastic episode gave you the bit of levity you were hoping for, and am hoping for the best for all that you're going through.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first big gold rush that happened in the U.S. was the California gold rush of 1848. There were other major "gold rush" events that happened all over the world and they also took place during the 19th century.

I love what this show did with Goldie's character. You can really tell they asked themselves "what kind of person would Scrooge fall in love with?" And this is absolutely the answer lol.
