Ugh I hate that! He's not a creepy character at all! Women are attracted to his charm and looks. He can be cold and heartless but not psycho-creepy. He's totally a masochistic simp, that's a good way to describe him hahaha. Well hopefully enough people complain and the studio corrects it. I was waiting for more episodes because I like to binge things. Hopefully it's not complete trash 😭or maybe I'll just stick with the manga...

Ill deff have to rip it and throw it on a drive, did that with a good quality version i found for the cardcaptors nelvana dub i found a while back GOTTA PRESERVE ALL MY CHILDHOOD FAVES LMAO

KrisPNatz

Wooo, glad to help!! I just straight up downloaded them all since internet archive always seems to be on the verge of takedown. Theres no better comfort than having them all on my ssd for off internet access 🥹 The redone uncut dub IS wild, because once you get to the frieza saga certain people were unavailable to redub. So there'll be scenes of prime (at the time) chris sabat Vegeta spitting some treachery as usual and then baby schemmel (who couldnt make the rerecord for that saga) goku being like "A oH No Ooo!" Its so jarring that its actually a much better experience to just watch the original. But that version never had a home release so this internetarchive person is a real saint for collecting and uploading those. And HELL YEAH, we love a TED talk cohost over here!! 🤝

Dasiadoodles

OMG I FOUND IT WITH A QUICK GOOGLE YOURE A SAVIOR i will be bookmarking that i was also peeved the version i watched was widescreen but this is IDEAL. What was super weird about the funi version was that it also maintained the weird VA transition midway thru the frieza saga like they clearly redubbed raditz > midway frieza but then kept the original initial voice acting and THEN it transitioned like it did on tv lmao its so weird they didnt just redo it for cohesion but alas. Dont worry i have been cohosting this ted talk with you i am also to blame LMAO XD

Nah, I dont know whats more insane. The title: "What If Goku Died In The Hyperbolic Time Chamber Fighting Ultra Instinct Cell Then Had An Affair With Zeno's Sister In The Demon Realm And Their Child Killed Everyone On Earth With The Black Star Dragon Balls" , or the fact that thats deadass what they be like 🤣🤣 Ill admit I was sleeping a little on toyotaro's art in the earlier dbs arcs but goddamn if I dont get exactly what you're talking about with his style. And hey, maybe Moro is just sexy (but so was perfect cell so that might just be my monsterfucker talking). And you can actually watch the original airings of dbz on internet archive! Idk if I can post links here so ill just tell you to look up "dragonball z original dub/in-house dub". It has all of the original broadcast episodes in wonderful 4:3 aspect ratio and I mean ORIGINAL. Like, I started dbz with the ocean dub back in 97/98 and its amazing getting to go back through and watch it exactly the way I saw it back then. Plus that collection includes the first run of the frieza saga. I always remembered vegeta's voice sounding really weird suddenly in the frieza arc but had no idea that around ep 53 hands changed from the ocean dub to the funi dub w/ the faulconer score. Its all really fascinating to see the dub VAs, music and pacing improve in real time. I mean early frieza saga them boys were fighting for their lives in the booth, esp since they were trying to sound like the ocean actors to not make it too jarring a transition. If you check that out, I hope you enjoy revisiting. Its really been a treat!!! Also damn I feel like Im talking your ear off about this in particular. Thank you for coming to my TED talk ass lolol

UGH WHAT AWFUL TIMING and omg i forgot about rock the dragon O.O. One of my minor regrets about my rewatch was I watched the version on Funimation at the time (not Kai, also RIP Funi) which has a different soundtrack and i love me some Cha La Head Cha La but i did desperately want to watch a version with the Bruce Faulconer soundtrack XDDD i have all those OSTs downloaded and in my itunes like i hear them all the time but i wanted to EXPERIENCE them tooooo. Alas i noted at the time that is how i HAVE to consume it all the next rewatch LMAOLMAO. Glad youve experienced those arcs at least! Theyre so very much enjoyable (and honestly i love toriyamas art but LORD Toyotaro draws everyone the most attractive to me he just has the perfect mix of cute and hot consistently in whatever hes doing, bless him honestly because in what other universe would i be attracted to MORO of all people otherwise LMAOOOO). My only gripes with those arcs are predictably the fans online whining about wanting them adapted over Daima and im just like CAN WE NOT HAVE BOTH? I also grew up with it and have been writing fanfic about the characters since i was prepubescent so i completely get you with the family analogy LMAO it just perpetually annoys me that i cant watch a single random clip from the show on youtube without being recommended 600 videos to the tune of "What If Goku Died In The Hyperbolic Time Chamber Fighting Ultra Instinct Cell Then Had An Affair With Zeno's Sister In The Demon Realm And Their Child Killed Everyone On Earth With The Black Star Dragon Balls" like why are so many fans like this LMFAO

I started this year with a social media detox so I was like "why not rewarch dbz since ive literally not seen it all the way through in decades". And I was glazing toriyama so much because its only when you go back in with adult eyes where you can truly see this mans pen at work. I want to do a dub retrospective series on YT at some point. On a more tragic side of things, I was literally halfway into "dragon dragon, rock the dragon!" When I opened my phone and saw toriyama had passed away. Ill never forgot how wild of a feeling that was. Def had to take a break from episodes for a lil bit after that. And on super, you know whats wild? I always heard everyone talking about "why arent we getting moro/granolah adaptationsss ;A;" so I picked the manga up and youre absolutely right. It feels SO much like old dbz energy, and I enjoyed those arcs way more than anything in the anime. (And the beerus/vegeta shit?? Ngl i was bout to act up) BUT I also havent seen the fuuull anime and feel like I cant really give it a chance until I watch it all the way through. So thats a premature take on my end for sure. And no prob!! 😁 I actually have a "non fandom" relationship with the dragonball franchise, sorta? since I started watching it when I was about 3 so the characters feel more like family than actual characters. So it would feel weird to do all the power scaling shit cause, like, Gohan? Thats big cuzzo, I dont care if he can beat saitama or whatever the fuck lmao

Dasiadoodles

OOOO love that for you, when I did my db rewatch a few years ago it was such FUN and after toriyama passed i in retrospect regretted not revisiting Super too just for the refresher (i had other anime i had to watch so i was like "i saw this what 5 years ago? thats still fresh" lmao). All I'll add is that the Super manga while largely following the same arcs as the anime does execute them differently in both minor and major ways which was fascinating (the zamasu arc ends completely differently which was so random) and some of the later arcs that were never adapted into anime really felt like direct sequel arcs to the energy Z had. The last one before they started adapting Super-Hero stuff had a lot of heart in it and actually touched on some Bardock backstory so i definitely recommend reading the manga too if you havent already ,especially cause Vegeta thrives in the manga in terms of author attention. YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT ABOUT THE CAT PEOPLE THO LMAO since gods of destruction can be any race from anywhere who knows maybe we'll get some beerus origins indirectly although apparently beerus was made because he looks like toriyamas cat so maybe this is more cat owner self-fan service LMAO. Also just its so refreshing to talk to someone about dragon ball and it not be arguing about power scaling fuckery so thank you for this XD

It hurts even more because I believe the line when the feather angel creature is flying away is "know youre never alone" and im like. B i t c h dont do this to me 🥺 Also 100% valid! I still hold to the characters in super being more flanderized versions of themselves more often than not, but super plays with some really cool ideas and it just makes me sad that the characters feel so off because I know alot of the shit the series does is something I would have eaten up before. And i suppose I should say my opinion of super does come with an asterisk since the tournament of power is the only arc I have not watched in full. So my opinions atm are based on what ive seen so far of the anime. Im going back through Z right now though so I plan to start super over again so I can try to bridge the gap between the characterizations in original dbz and dbs. Likewise though I was also sad that whis and beerus arent in daima! Im curious about gomah's gendarmerie though cause they look so much like beerus but they dont have a tail. So im trying mad hard not to be like "all purple cat ear creatures look the same" 🤣

Dasiadoodles

YES OMFG THAT FUCKIN FEATHER CREATURE THING EVERY TIME IT FLIES AND GOKU WATCHES IT I WEEEEEEEEEP GOOD LORD THE EMOTIONS. I would have to somewhat politely disagree about Super tho XD. I do think it felt like 500 tournaments in a row, the Zamasu/Future Trunks arc felt like a retread of the GRITTY of Z at times and it began super rough with the inferior looking extended adaptations of BoG and RF but there was also so much just fun slice of life things going on inbetween arcs like the damned Arale crossover episode (Vegeta saying Arale is so strong she must be a gag manga character is the funniest fuckin line in this entire franchise) and the overall approach to the two tournaments was a lot more wholesome and feel-good even when the literal universe was at stake. The tournament of power is also unquestionably my favorite arc of the entire franchise, it was such a fun culmination of characters and callbacks (is my Android 17 bias showing? ROFL) and things like Goku teaming up with 17 and 18 and having a tokusatsu moment against ribrianne is also one of my all time favorite things (not to mention the roshi-dying fakeout was SO EMOTIONAL). Its approach while having a billion fights occurring in an improbable amount of time just was so fun to me and with all the new characters and character interactions it even achieved the impossible and made me both LIKE freeza AND ship him with goku LMAO (super also made me actually really like vegeta and i couldnt stand him before). I do think it got super (pun intended) fuckin ridiculous when we had super saiyan god > super saiyan god super saiyan > super saiyan god super saiyan in kaioken x2500 or whatever LMFAOOOOOO and it literally was back to back to back to back (to you *charli xcx voice*) fights but the overall approach felt more fun inspired than violence inspired to me so it felt like a more wholesome evolution of what Z established the franchise to be. That all being said i also am very much excited to see DB return to its adventure roots in daima with the cast its built up to this point. The only real negative about Daima i have is that chronologically its apparently occurring before the cast meet Beerus and Whis which MAKES ME SAD CAUSE THEY WERE GREAT ADDITIONS TO THE CAST but its not anything against this series I just miss those two LMAO. Everything you mention about Vegeta is intriguing I hadnt thought about all that but I think it would be fascinating especially for his characterization, we get a bit about his past generally but a reflection on his childhood while in Child (asterisk) form would be interesting to see for sure.

KrisPNatz

yeah as Ive continued to randomly skim the anime for Raise wa Tanin ga Ii it feels like theyre also characterizing Kirishima slightly differently which is weird? Its not a full 180 but he does come off a bit more psycho-creepy as opposed to being a masochistic simp LMAO but i dont have full context for the anime, again ive only skimmed and seen select scenes

KrisPNatz

So glad youre enjoying Daima too. This absolutely felt like the refresh the dragonball series needed, and I will forever be 😭 at this being Toriyama's last (reported) project. It kills me but I cant help picturing the little angel that Goku's reaching out to in the ED as a representation of Akira and the light he shined across the world. Also really glad you bought up all the misconceptions that DB gets as a franchise from its years of being mainstream. You mentioned all the fights and violence that people think about, but the idea that Goku's dumb/a horrible father, Vegeta only takes L's, the series is all about who gets a new form, etc are the things that get under my skin. Because the characters are so much more nuanced than that (I do think the super era had alot to do with some of those mainstream ideas though since the characters tend to be a bit flandarized in that series so its not my fav 😅.) I love that the heart seems to have really returned with daima. Sometimes its so refreshing that it legit feels like a dream. And on episode 3 no less! One thing I was wondering was about how Goku and the others' kid forms would factor into their character arcs. I mean Goku's been done pretty well so far with him having to readjust to his smaller body in order to fight. But, ngl, im mostly keeping an eye out for what theyll do with Vegeta...cause he turned into a kid and got real pissed real quick. Like I cant be the only one who feels like hes been grumpier than usual. But then I realized....literally NOTHING good has happened to Vegeta when he was this age/size. He was taken as a slave by frieza, had his father killed, race destroyed, title stripped/rendered useless, probably got shit on by the frieza force a ton, definitely was the victim of some crazy ass racism, and basically had no childhood. Even if that meant taking over other planets with saiyans his age. (I mean I guess radditz was retconned to be his age in DBS broly). I would literally give anything for a small breadcrumb of angst in that department. Like im on my knees begging. Just a line would be fine. Something like "Being a brat again sucks". Im not hard to please 🤣

I'm a little behind on anime. So I'm excited to catch up with Hanako, Ron, and Natsume. So happy to hear you are enjoying Goukon ni Ittara Onna ga Inakatta Hanashi! I read the manga and it's so funny, I love it! I'm excited to watch the anime. Glad the humor wasn't lost. I really like the Raise wa Tanin ga Ii manga as well. I was going to check out the anime anyway just because usually do if I enjoy the manga but sad to hear about the art style not being as good. I love Shouma but I don't think he's a better option especially since it'll feel like everything Yoshino went through up until now would be pointless. Also Kirishima isn't terrible he's just not everyone's taste. He was a little mean to Yoshino in the beginning but after that he treats her more kindly than anyone else in his life, as long as you can get over some of his big character flaws. Hey! Some people don't mind sharing hahaha
