I prefer The Last Action Hero, particularly in light of the direction movies have taken in the present day.
That being said, I've only begun appreciating the movie in my 30s, before that I probably would have agreed with Total Recall.

I haven't seen this movie since I was little. It was on tv while I was eating a sandwich that I remember having mayonnaise on it. And while I was eating, I looked over at the tv and ALL I SAW was Arnold pulling something horrific looking from his nose. I completely lost my appetite and that's all I think of when I see someone mention this movie now!
So.. I think it's probably time I just watch the movie again and try to replace that connection in my memory of this movie with something better...and not eat while I watch it! π

While I'm not a fan of this move, Arnold does put in a credible and engaging performance.

Went on a Paul Verhoeven binge during COVID. One of the smartest sharpest satirists of cinema. Itβs hysterical that he had a Hollywood ride for 10+ years. Almost everyone got Starship Troopers wrong when it came out (critics thought it was trash, 12 year old me thought it was a fun action flick), now itβs rightly seen as a brilliant parody of nationalism and fascism that eerily skewers 9/11 Bush era politics BEFORE THEY EVEN HAPPENED.

You probably need to watch the director's cut of the 1985 film Brazil which won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association awards for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. (The non-director's cut which I saw first on television is an interesting story too.) It was also voted the 54th greatest British film of all time. This movie suddenly reminds me of this one.

The only Arnold movie I've ever seen is True Lies. Highly recommended.

I wish there was a specific head injury (or maybe just a pill?) that would erase all my Arnold memories so I could watch his entire catalog over again with new eyes.
{checks PDF} OH MY GOD you haven't seen CONAN THE BARBARIAN yet?? CROM!!
