Ah I misunderstood you then! I'll explain why once we get to a certain episode lol ; )

Don't think it would be a spoiler? It's not a spoiler for Total Recall as they read these after...and for Star Trek...it references something that Gene wanted to have in season one...but never happened...🤔

Greg Quinn

I swear a cylindrical prop in the movie was also in TNG, but I don't know exactly where.

Mike Rogers

"You should already recognize one: The head of Recall's office chair is a black version of the lavender chairs around the conference room in TNG." Nolan, I saw Total Recall in the theaters, and watched TNG from its aired pilot to its last episode and I would have never made that connection in a million years! LOL!!

Greg Q: This might be considered a spoiler, my friend. They are very touchy about too obvious a hint to the future. Might want to edit that a little (not that what you said was factually incorrect, oh Gene...LOL).

Another (admittedly less substantive more coincidental) connection... the mutant with three...body parts...instead of two. Which apparently Gene really...really...REALLY wanted to have in TNG.

Greg Quinn

Uggggh… My nose still hurts.

There are surprisingly a lot of Star Trek connections in this movie. You should already recognize one: The head of Recall's office chair is a black version of the lavender chairs around the conference room in TNG. More seriously, there's also Marc Alaimo who plays the general Ritcher meets up with on Mars ("They're all connected!) He played one of the Romulans in the TNG S1 finale. I wonder if you'll spot the other connections the deeper into Trek you go. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if even parts of the sets show up in there. As for the movie itself, first time I saw it was a TV edit. So it surprised me again when I watched it on DVD. But some of my favorite Ahnold lines in this too. See ya at the party!

Nolan

I agree with othhers this is one of his best outside of Terminator movies. Just enough cheese a good story and lots of excellent action. Have you both seen Running Man?

AzoriusMage

This is a really weird biopic of Dennis Quaid.

JD Nevesytrof

I agree that it is Arnold's best. It's the best of the classic 80s style action movies. They don't make movies like this anymore. This was when movies were just fun.

Andreas Schmitt

The original Philip K. Dick story does develop in a very different way. It's worth reading. Just don't expect anything beyond the core concept to resemble the film.

Fun Fact: According to Verhoven in interviews, he intentionally made the movie with the idea that what we are watching is both real AND a dream. To make it as vague as possible by not having a "true" interpretation. As such there are lots of things that suggest it is a dream, but also things that make more sense if it's really happening.

Julie Carter

10/10 Movie 8/10 Reaction (minus 2pts for no Fireball) Awesome rewatch. Always a favorite. I love the details that make you question whether it was all the Recall dream or not. Melina's face in the screen at Recall and "blue skies on Mars" the Recall tech mentions being the standout moments that makes you go Hmmmm.

Out of Paul Verohoven's filmography, at least the popular films he's made in the US, I'd rank this his second best film, with Robocop being #1. Favorite one-liner in Total Recall, and what would you "Rekall" if you could?

Steven Johnson
