"The Big Goodbye" would be my favorite. I mostly liked the same ones as everyone else. "Hide and Q" might be underrated, but I just like Q, but I don't think he did a lot interesting and great in that episode. I NEVER thought about "Haven" being a good episode until you mentioned it, but it probably was one of the best ones in that it introduced Troi's mother and added some comedy. "Coming of Age" and "Conspiracy" almost seem like one episode separated by a few other episodes; they were probably two of the best, although the ending didn't feel like a Star Trek episode. "Heart of Glory" was pretty good. I didn't like "Datalore" as much as some as I think it felt too much like the soap opera evil twin episode to me. Of course, the best episode was "Skin of Evil" as it killed off a character free up more room for others -- just kidding.

1. Datalore. 2. Conspiracy 3. Heart of Glory 4. After that there are a bunch basically tied for me...

Greg Quinn

he was having a whale of a time

I would say based on your rankings and the top tier Target Audience, I would have to go more with Alex and Josh's choices on this one. I am not a fan of Encounter at Farpoint or Hide and Q, although I did grow to like the Q character and he gets better in later episodes. Also, Where No One Has Gone Before, although a decent episode and worth an honorable mention in my book, does not crack the top 5.

Collin Freeman

Same as me

Collin Freeman

My favorites: 1. Where No One Has Gone Before 2. Datalore 3. The Big Goodbye 4. Arsenal of Freedom 5. 11001001

Dan Halstead

Good list, guys. Going to be interesting to see what your favorites are for the following seasons. Especially season 2.

Monty Crawford

I really appreciate your take on season one, and look forward to the journey so to speak. My top 5 are (5) Conspiracy (4) 11001001 (3) Encounter at Farpoint (2) Datalore (1) Where No One Has Gone Before.. all for their own different reasons.

17:08 I can pick a top 5 overall easy. You guys have no idea the ride you're in for. :-)

12:29 Don't forget to pronounce that W in Lwaxana!

#4 for the win! LOL!

My top 5 (In no particular order): Datalore, The Big Goodbye, Coming of Age, Heart of Glory, Conspiracy.

KatWithAttitude

Even in a top 5 I would select, the writing is still inconsistent at times. For example, the start of 'Heart Of Glory' was intentional padding of the run time by Maurice Hurley, because the script ran short initially. 'Conspiracy' on the other hand featured a very effective extended opening with three very well cast actors for the three Starfleet captains. I would give a bonus to 'Datalore' for using Wesley more appropriately as the younger audience identification character. I'd subtract that bonus for the ridiculous scene where Lore manipulates Data on the floor and claims Riker & Wesley are in danger. It just doesn't work. The Binar episode (I'm not looking up the title to correctly type it here) and either 'Where No One Has Gone Before', or 'The Arsenal Of Freedom' to round out the five.

Thanks fellas! And for what its worth, I think you guys turned around many of our opinions on season 1. I know I did. You guys put it in perspective, so thanks! I thinks its more that seaon 3 and on are “different” cosmetically, and they went from plot-oriented, to character-oriented stories. Awesome job!

Chris S.

We’ll put them on the list

Josh (Target Audience)

Can I make a movie suggestion? I know its not the place. ButI was wondering if you guys have seen “Twister” or “Crimson Tide”. Both great movies. Anyone wlae like those? I think Alex and Josh would love them (if they haven’t seen them)

Chris S.

Just missed their list though so it got top 5 votes!

Josh (Target Audience)

It’s for the engineer who was clearly fired after this incident sitting on the floor pulling the isolinear chips out, never fails to make me laugh.

Paul Rymer

I have a feeling "The Big Goodbye" didn't make the Patron's top 5 because while it is excellent there are better Holodeck episodes. It was right up there for me, I think I had it as an honourable mention.

The Naked Now is a wild pick, I’d love to hear your thoughts on that

Josh (Target Audience)

1. Conspiracy 2. The Neutral Zone 3. The Naked Now 4. 11001001 5. Datalore

Paul Rymer

I'm always interested in what the IMDB rankings are, so the top 5 from this season were: Conspiracy (36th best TNG episode) Datalore (66th) Where No One Has Gone Before (79th) 11001001 (80th) The Neutral Zone 86th And just as a tease, sometime in the next month or so you hit the 6th ranked episode of the whole series. Edit to add my own: 1. 11001001. 2. Conspiracy 3. The Big Goodbye 4. Arsenal of Freedom. 5. Hide and Q

John M.

Ah ok, that makes sense because I hear from other reactors how time consuming it is to put together everyone’s list.

TalynStarburst

Yes it is for the Target Demographic tier (highest tier)

Josh (Target Audience)

I couldn’t find the post where we vote for our favorites, is it for an upper tier? Anyway, here’s my top 5 for fun. 1. Heart of Glory 2. Conspiracy 3. The Arsenal of Freedom 4. Hide and Q 5. Datalore
