PATRON TAKES - INVINCIBLE

This week we are recording a rare non-Star Trek TV reaction, and watching the second season of INVINCIBLE

The first season was one of our favorite shows of the last few years, so we want to watch this highly anticipated second season together

If you haven't seen INVINCIBLE, it is available on Amazon Prime, and we would highly recommend checking out the first season

For this edition of PATRON TAKES, we are looking for any thoughts on INVINCIBLE - 1st season, 2nd season, or even the comics

Since there will probably be less Patrons taking part in this than usual, there is a good chance your take will be featured and responded to in our video!

If you want your take to be read in the video, comment ONE of the following:

- A brief review (3-4 sentences) of why you like/dislike INVINCIBLE

- A question for us about the series

- A prediction of how you think we will react to a certain aspect of the new season

We will finish the season Wednesday, so we won’t be reading the comments on this until then. If you have questions shoot us a message!

IFinished season 1 Wednesday and finished season 2 on Thursday First thoughts on all of it I have to re watch season 1 I recognize several voices through out the season Clancy Brownn, Michael Dorn, The audio description is good but the main reason I am going to rewatch both seasons some of the descriptions are weak until the scene is resolved I hadn’t heard of this and when I first checked it out the other day. I immediately thought of Peacemaker. I only caught 15 or 20 minutes of it at friends and I thought Peacemaker was more like: “The Powerpuff girls plan pornhub orgies” I thought invincible was better with double entendre I enjoy the blatant attack on comic tropes like secret identities and twisted personal relationships There is an interesting exploration of how your family is not responsible for your criminal actions once discovered I will revisit this page for more comment in a few days

Don’t have much knowledge in animated comics stuff, would love to hear some other recommendations

I love how they are being faithful to the overall storyline while making some adjustments and course corrections that are both appropriate for the new media and a bit more thoughtful reflecting an older and wiser Robert Kirkman. Of note is the treatment of Mark’s mother Debbie. The scene where Mark comes home to find her sitting on the floor crying is approached differently than in the comic, giving Debbie a bit of humanity and reflection that the original scene didn’t convey. And they are giving the Mark/Amber relationship more breathing room. In the comic it was relatively short lived and unconvincing. We all assume that he will eventually end up with Eve but who knows…this may play out differently.

Been meaning to watch this, but stuck in the Simpsons catch up limbo... I finish one season, then another comes out, lol.

I like it because even though it’s kinda a dark take on the “DC universe” but it also has a very tongue in cheek vibe to character names and the silly situations they end up in. It’s a good counter balance to the darkness.

invincible is a good show. but its definitely been hyped up way more than it deserves. it's definitely not one of the best animated shows of the past few years, and its not even the best superhero animated show of the past few years. i think it does a good job introducing people who are unfamiliar with superhero animation into it, but it relies a lot on shock value to make people think it's more mature than other ones. its themes and 'adult problems' that people praise it for have been present in superhero movies, comics, and animation for so long, but i think people just assume they've only ever done things for kids. My friends say i think invincible is "baby's first superhero show", and that's sort of true, but i do think its good, just... look a little deeper before you hype this one up out of all of them

I just checked out the first 10 minutes of s1e1 I will get back to this in a day or so, something to binge watch for a change I haven’t seen this before though I have heard the name. Sounds fun

I haven’t watched the second season yet, but I did enjoy the first season and read a few issues of the comics. I don’t know if you know this, but the comics was created by Robert Kirkman who also created the Walking Dead. If you take a look at the huge impressive voicing cast, you will see several actors from The Walking Dead including Steven Yeun who voices Invincible and played Glenn on The Walking Dead.

I don't like Invincible, the evil Superman premise is tired and has been done many times before, in my opinion the series relies to much on gore and shock value to make up for the lack of originality. But the worst part is that a handful of episodes after Omniman brutally murdered countless people on earth to teach Mark a lesson the show starts his redemption arc. No thanks.

Oh HO, and here we were thinking you were doubling up on TNG so you could take an extended Thanksgiving. (please don't read this one)

I normally find Evil Superman stories boring but I like Invincible because Mark is basically Superman, but he’s being raised by General Zod.
