The Sex Scoreboard is short today. All that needs to be said is: thank god we do NOT have a new +1 today. That would have been very hard for me to come up with a funny comment about it. NEXT EP AS QUICK AS I CAN!!!

Prof Moff

Definitely one of the early highlights of the show, if a bit uncomfortable at times. It highlights that Star Trek at it's core isn't just random adventures in a sci fi setting, at it's best it's essentially modern philosophy. Asking questions about who and what we are as individuals, as a society, and the nature of life itself. It can make us think about what's right and what's wrong in situations we might never otherwise consider, and other times make us reconsider our views on real world issues by reframing the discussion around fictional people/places/species where you'll often only recognize the parallels after the fact. The Enemy Within also set the stage for 4 recurring tropes in Trek. While it appeared in The Naked Time, in production order this was the first use of the vulcan neck pinch. It's also the first time McCoy says "he's dead, Jim". Lastly it's the genesis of 2 fairly common Trek episode archetypes; the transporter malfunction episode, and the imposter/duplicate/evil twin of a main character episode. One thing this ep could REALLY have done without though is that last exchange between Rand and Spock. I don't know who wrote that line, but Spock basically telling Rand "let's be honest, you kinda like it, just a little" is a really bad look.

Ah, Jekyll and Hyde ... together again! Shatner certainly did an acting class on how to portray 2 extremes. If I remember correctly, this is 1 of Josh's all-time favorite episodes. I like how you both pointed out the great technical aspects like the lighting, camera angles, and direction. It's a shame this was Leo Penn's only directed episode. Sean Penn came from good stock.

Collin Freeman

One of my favorite episodes and always worth a rewatch.

Ok...that makes at least 3 or 4 Suggestions I have seen in the last year about the Blooper Reel. A Yes or No Poll would be very telling I'm sure. What do you think Josh...Alex? πŸ˜‰πŸ––

That one was good...Might be him poking fun at Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith of Lost in Space. He would say "Never Fear..Smith is Here!" a few times. The Kiss with the old Flame Lawyer was good and another one of my Favs is Kirk on the Bridge...turns and says, "Mr. Spack! " LOL

Gentlemen, you say you've watched the final bit of the original Star Trek television series. That's not technically correct. The Star Trek blooper reel was cut together by Rodenberry Productions to give them something new (along with "The Cage") to show at conventions in the 1970's to drum up interest in a reboot. Before I saw The Next Generation or Star Trek: The Motion Picture, I saw "The Cage" and "The Star Trek Blooper Reel" at conventions. And while parts of it (and the editing) are corny and silly, there are many moments you owe it to yourself to see. There be chuckles here! https://youtu.be/UpcZVWpCMEI?si=w-S17-fkUcaANM_F
