UNCUT REACTION - Battlestar Galactica ep24 (series finale) - The Hand of God

It has all led to this! What a journey! We started Battlestar Galactica 1 year ago and have watched roughly 2 episodes a month making it our longest journey through a single television season we've ever completed. There have been some excellent episodes, and some that were not for us, but overall it has been a fun time watching this show exclusively here on Patreon with you!

There will be a discussion video recapping our thoughts on the series coming later this month, so look out for that, and thanks for joining us on this journey!

I don't believe they knew they were getting canceled when they made this episode.

They could always do some Galactic 1980 first just for shits and giggles. Not to mention the last episode of that series is pretty special too.

The concept trailer for Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming by Richard Hatch would make a nice little reaction to what could have been. It even has Baltar in it.

I'm sure someone has already said this, but Glen Larson intended BG to be periodic mini-series (like the pilot episodes) and not a regular TV show. There was a scramble to produce scripts when the network wanted a regular TV schedule and this meant both filler stories and struggling to figure out what the show should be about.

I even missed that! Nice catch!

They actually did set up the "waggling" thing while you guys were talking. Boomer tells them not to lose the transmitter and Starbuck says, "Well, if we do, we'll just waggle our wings."

Thanks guys. It's been a good ride. Actually Richard Hatch did not hate the show. In fact, he tried to bring it back in 2004 but the rights had already been given over to another creative team who ultimately did a reimagining of the original series. Hatch did spend his own money to create a trailer of what his vision of the flim (or new show) would look like. You can see it here: https://youtu.be/8oUkkBQkSzo?si=E9Wpqc-HzOll77HI

Is it weird I hope they don't watch the Reimagined, 2003 version of this show till much, much later, despite it being a favorite show of mine? I think because it's both the brainchild of a 90's Star Trek writer and because of that, as much a response to what Trek and sci-fi was at the time than anything, I kinda want TA to get that full context of Trek at least up till the end of "Voyager," if not "Enterprise" before they embark on that journey. But that means if they DO wanna react to it, it's YEARS away.

They finally got the right variance in Cylon voices, so we could tell the different robots apart, and the show ended. haha They pulled out ALL the stock footage for this episode. (Nice that they added some extra laser blasts in some shots.) Good music editing. It was a nice season finale. Went out with a bang. Too bad it was the end.

We made it to end! I'm glad you didn't give up on the series part way through. It's a Sci Fi classic!
