okay your opinion. every show every made that they haven't seen is one they could make up their own mind about but many shows ever made are boring wastes of time doesn't mean they are all worth a watch. If they watch BSG 1980 that is great, as I said, if they approach it to make fun of it it might be fun. I am not paying for the show to watch it but it does not matter if I do or not. If the community thinks it a good idea they should.

There is plenty of reason to watch it there are interesting things that come up in it some of which even play over into the reimagined series. The fact that it is a dumpster fire also makes it amusing. But there are some good episodes and one of the best of all of BSG is in there. It's not a full season so it wouldn't be too long either. You've seen it but they haven't let them see it and judge for themselves. At the very least we get the enjoyment out of their reactions. If it's not for you just don't watch it.

I thinks this a boring horrible episode but I really do like the last one. Some may not it I think it exciting and fun and a pretty good final episode so there really is no need to watch the dumpster fire of BSG 1980. Unless you watch it as a complete riff

Prof Moff

Do not make them do that! They’re good guys! ;)

Yeah, there was only the one complete full-scale Viper, so Apollo was in the partial mockup they used for closeups. At the time they probably figured the TV overscan would crop out the unfinished part of the Viper.

Did you notice the front bottom of Apollo's Viper was missing when he and Starbuck landed on the Celestra? The reason they carry their helmets is because they keep them in their quarters not in the fighters. If you think back you might remember seeing them in the little cubbyholes in the background of where the pilots sleep. There are 250 ships in the fleet of all different types, designs and functions. After the Cylon attack on the colonies per Adama's speech they mustered up any ships they could just to get people out of there. So you have to think of it as a large fleet where there are ships at the front, ships at the back and many more in between. We've really only seen a small amount of ships they have. I like in the reimagined version they kept the designs of a lot of the ships in the fleet and you even got to see some of their functions a little bit more.

The actor Richard Hatch didn't sign over his likeness so they didn't make a figure of him. That's why often times when you see toys or products it doesn't include Apollo only Starbuck. Yeah, not painting the faces really gave them a generic look. Some of the others were cool like the Cylon and the aliens. I still remember a cool comic book ad where you could send away for a gold Cylon.

There's a pretty good 45-minute documentary on the DVD set called "Remembering Battlestar Galactica." You guys might want to watch that sometime (either on or off camera). Galactica 1980 is not mentioned, so there wouldn't be any spoilers.

If "centons" and so forth were a drinking game, no one would survive this episode. It's easy to miss, but the guy that Aurora got the navigational data from at the beginning had a mechanical hand. Not important to the story at all, they just happened to cast an actor with an artificial hand. Kind of like how they cast different ethnic groups in Star Trek and they were "just there," even though it was sort of revolutionary at the time. The toys for Battlestar Galactica were made by Mattel. I'm not sure how well they sold, but the action figures weren't as good as the Star Wars figures made by Kenner-- no touches of paint on the faces that would have made a lot of difference. Their choices were also a little odd... like they made a Starbuck figure but no Apollo. 🤷‍♂️ Nick Holt, who played Charka, died tragically at 30 later in 1979. He was on a bicycle that was hit by a car. No bike helmets in the Seventies.

Not immediately

Not a favorite. Very "meh" to me. Yes, Battlestar Galactica was cancelled at the end of its 1 season. Reason: cost too much per episode. Trivia: Paul Fix who plays the old Battlestar Commander Kronus played Dr. Mark Piper in the 2nd Star Trek pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before. He had quite a long and varied acting career, showing up in pretty much every TV worth mentioning from the 50's through the 70's.

Collin Freeman

This was probably my least favorite episode for a long time but it has grown on me in recent years and it does tell you a little bit more about the rest of the fleet. Please continue with Galactica 1980! It'll be fun to see your reactions to some of the things that change but there are also some interesting ideas and episodes that pop up. It actually even kind of ends up on a high note.

Getting close to the end! Are you going to brave Galactica 1980 after this? 😁
