EARLY ACCESS - Tricked by Tchar's Sinister Scheme? First Time Watching Star Trek TAS REACTION (ep16)

Please be aware, at the time (well, most of the time) at Filmation, the in-betweeners, even some of the keyframe artists were very young. For some it would be their first professional assignment. They also used students (most notoriously in the various Archie cartoons) occasionally. Some of the directors were kinda green as well, explaining the occasional experimental camera shots.

This is probably one of the least interesting TAS stories, despite the numerous aliens. I think the story was just paper-thin, because the setup (averting a holy war) seems like a good idea. Needed more development, which they probably didn't have time to do.

Wow! Apparently there are two yellow bird-humanoid species in the animated series. The creature from Yesteryear was apparently an Aurelian historian named Aleek-Om who was doing historical research about the Guardian of Forever. Tchar from this episode was a member of a species called Skorr. According to a twitter post, Aurelians are similar but have thinner necks, a slighter build, and have plumage in their hip or groin area. The little green insectoid species guy apparently named Em/3/Green was apparently voiced by David Gerrold who wrote The Trouble with Tribbles and its animated sequel. The director was against this for budgetary reasons, but Gerrold said it was like $75 and enough for him to get a SAG card. It looks like they introduced a third cat-like species in the animated series. This episode was written by Stephen Kandel who wrote all three Harry Mudd episodes. It looks like he was a prolific writer of non-science fiction TV from the 1960s until the 1980s and is still alive at age 96.
