FINAL POLL - SERIES FOR THIS SUMMER
Added 2023-06-01 17:28:19 +0000 UTCIn our original poll, Quantum Leap was the heavy favorite, but did not get a majority of the votes. The Expanse was the highest runner up. This poll will decide which first season of these two shows we watch alongside the Star Trek TOS movies this summer. They will be full uncut on Patreon & edited for YouTube. Poll ends Sunday night so make sure to get your vote in!
All shows not chosen as well as many other choices will return later this year when our Patrons get to decide what show we watch a season of after the first season of Star Trek TNG. A few of them may also show up sooner in our next poll for our Patreon exclusive series after we finish Battlestar Galactica 1978 in a couple months.

I think that's why they took to the first season of Buffy so warmly. But as I said in another comment, I will totally support The Expanse on the next go round, even if Babylon 5 is on the list.

2023-06-02 06:16:34 +0000 UTCThat is true. However, they were one of the first to take on watching TOS, and a lot of TOS fans love Quantum Leap. It's a very different show in terms of premise and stuff, but it does share some of the same Star Trek DNA in terms of the moral compass the show has. It's quality TV from a quality era of TV. That's not saying anything against The Expanse. Expanse is great.

My thinking is this will work as a good contrast with TNG better than the Expanse. They're watching a lot of SPACE stuff, and I can't imagine they won't get absolutely burned out.

2023-06-02 06:14:31 +0000 UTCQuantum Leap is good and has a full run if you like it and want to continue watching it (and of course Scott Bakula, you'll see him eventually even if you don't watch Quantum Leap ;) "its been a long time... getting from there to here" LoL!). The Expanse may be best scifi show in recent years, but it got cut short even after Amazon saved it from the syfy channel it still ended before the books (to be fair there is a fairly large time jump in the books which might be one reason they stopped where they did).

2023-06-01 18:45:47 +0000 UTCMy personal thinking is that Quantum Leap will act as a good contrast with the Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica stuff. It's Science Fiction, but much more Earthbound. Personally, that'll work better in contrast to Star Trek, but that's just me. I've got nothing against The Expanse, it's one of the better Science Fiction shows in recent memory.

2023-06-01 18:11:17 +0000 UTCIt is a tough call. Kinda want to go with Quantum Leap, mainly because there's not a lot of reactors that do them. That's kinda why I like you guys, you do the less common stuff. Now, that being said, it can alienate some that didn't like the show or wasn't fully into it. I will admit that even as a kid, I never watched it as an die hard fan. It was a good show and I liked a lot of it, but when I grew up, I didn't go back to it. It's great, but it's also a 'case of the week' format. So there's that big nostalgia factor, although one of the common issues we have with these shows is the time period and how many themes aren't going to hit as hard. The Expanse is more recent, has more of an arc, will target things that more people will relate to, has a much bigger budget, and is overall a better show. So, for me it's a split between nostalgia and intensity. Expanse is pretty intense, but QL hits me in the nostalgia. Now, if you pick one and eventually get to the other, I'm good with that too.
