So many of the original writers, stars and guest stars, as well as D.C. Fontana and Roddenberry came together to make the animated series. It was special because some great science fiction writers like Larry Niven contributed scripts, but also because it didn't talk down to children. It was Star Trek, animated, but still Star Trek.

Mateo Latosa

I watched the first few of these a while back when y'all confirmed it would be on the slate, but otherwise I've never seen TAS. I decided it seems okay-ish, but I'll likely have more fun watching it alongside the reactions rather than watching ahead of time.

Jeff Cornell

He certainly wasn’t as dynamic in the recording booth (or his hotel room, or wherever he happened to be reading his lines each week) as he was on a soundstage.

James H

The cartoons are not great but this was the typical animation style of the time. However, for a real hoot of animation YouTube the Thor and Iron Man 1966 cartoons.

Ken R

I've been watching it for the first time... It's trippy af. Can't wait

danzthename

Nice, thank you!

Bret Kay

Blu-ray

Josh (Target Audience)

Ohh, I've been looking forward to it! Hope they start releasing soon! btw, how will you be watching TAS? (DVD, Blu-Ray, Amazon, Paramount+, etc.)?

Bret Kay

It’s been a big project editing wise, but it’s coming soon

Josh (Target Audience)

Are you doing a video of final thoughts on the original series, or have I missed it?

James H

Excellent looking forward to it

AzoriusMage

The vast majority of the show is Canon imo, or should be. If Roddenberry had never spoken about it, everyone would accept it. Some crazy stuff happens, but it's not like they hung out with Space Abraham Lincoln.

Chuck Rice

I haven't seen these since I was a child on Saturday mornings, and I've forgotten almost all of them. This is gonna be fun!!!

Firekrys FWO

I looked it up and you are correct. I should have verified my facts before posting. I read both sets of books (TOS and TAS) a very long time ago, and James Blish was the name that stuck in my memory. For me, the name Alan Dean Foster calls to mind "Splinter of the Mind's Eye", which, of course, is Star Wars, not Star Trek.

David Felgate

…and fans have I think mostly settled in on the show being “canon.”

Joe Concepts

This should be interesting. I haven’t looked at these much over the years. Some of the shows take advantage of being able to give us better “sets” than the real show ever could. It’s definitely uneven. I’ll rewatch and see but I also kind of remember Shatner being a boring voice actor.

I believe it was Alan Dean Foster who novelized the animated episodes, although Blish did do the original series.

James H

Nice, will you be doing 1 or 2 episodes per video?

Phillip Grischa

I'm been looking forward to this. I've never seen these, but I read James Blish's novelization of them 40 years ago.

David Felgate

A new phase of Star Trek circa 1972 I believe. I was 5, so you can imagine it was very exciting for a kid!!! Can't wait to get your reactions!

Dale Gonyea

I have been watching the show on DVD all week to get ready. I haven't seen them all the way through since the 80s, having only watched a few when I got the DVDs about 15 years ago.

tyranusfan

AWESOME! These episodes have strengths and weaknesses. The ideas are often dazzling - even when the animation isn't. But there are plenty of instances where the animation is as dazzling as the ideas! It will be fascinating to hear your take on them!

Rob

Aw hell yeah, brother.

Chuck Rice

I rewatched these episodes about 2 years ago but it had been decades since I had seem them. Sadly, for me, they did not hold up as well as I remembered them from when I was a kid.

Collin Freeman

*Insert disco-Trek music here*

Steven Johnson

It will be interesting to see your first time reactions to these. Most episodes I haven’t seen in decades.

Jonathan

Excellent! I hope you enjoy these, it will be a fun re-watch for me. I haven't seen them In years. Have fun!
