UNCUT REACTION - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Witch S1E3

Now that we have finished TOS we are going to continue Season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

There’s only 10 more episodes in this first season, so we will be watching it over the next few weeks and then jumping into Star Trek TAS afterwards

Thank you for being a Patron & enjoy!

Oh, that's cool. Even if you didn't vibe with it I'll probably check these out anyway. I'm here primarily for your Trek journey and that's good enough for me. I'm surprised it didn't do so well on Youtube, since the Buffy fandom is large and welcomes reactors. Then again, I've been subbed to you guys on YouTube for a while and have never been recommended one of your Buffy reactions so maybe it was YouTube being dumb in how its algo works because I'd expect to be recommended it.

Appreciate it, but to be clear we watched the first season of Buffy last year. We didn’t care much for it outside of a few episodes and it didn’t perform well on YouTube so we did not continue the show and do not plan to. Feel free to enjoy these first season reactions though.

OMG, you're doing Buffy?! -- Buffy is, (along with DS9 and TNG), my favourite show of ALL time. Season 1 is janky as hell but I still love it. Season 2 onwards is just peak television, and there is a reason there is still a lot of academic interest in the series to this day, and the fandom is as strong as ever. I can't believe I am only just realising that you are doing these. I was already more than happy with my Patreon sub just for TNG now I really feel I'm getting my money's worth!

Main premise being High school is hell, each episode delves into a specific issue in that regards. In this one is about living up to parental expectations. The fact that people don’t notice or gloss over the extraordinary events happening is a deliberate running gag. But they also explained why within the show by the end of the last episode, so that people wouldn’t wonder each time it happens. Humor is very subjective.

This show is structured more like Firefly than Start Trek, in that it is more serialized. Characters change and grow. Events that happen are referenced in later episodes, especially ones that advance ongoing storylines. Each season has a season-long arc that centers around a main villain. There are also mini-arcs that span several episodes, and, of course, stand-alone monster-of-the-week episodes like this one. As each season progresses, there tends to be fewer stand-alone episodes and more episodes that setup the big season finale. This structure becomes more apparent starting with season 2.

Familiars! Yes, thank you

I think black cats, or other animals kept by Witches, are called “familiars” if that’s what Josh was thinking of.

This was around the time that Sarah Michelle Gellar fell in love with my kitty. She was the niece of my coworker when I worked in Encino. One morning, I had William in a carrier under my desk because I had an afternoon vet appointment. She used to come in all the time and visit with her aunt Rita, whose desk was right next to mine. I used to chat with her all the time. She was at that time a wonderful girl and I liked her very much. I’ve never seen her show. I should watch it now. It would bring back happy memories. She and Freddy did cat sit for me a couple of times. they were both big cat lovers. I haven’t seen them in years. That was a long time ago.

Planning on a video for each episode but we will have to see how the reactions go. We will be watching them in batches though.

With TAS being 30 would you consider doing 2 at a time
