I joined specifically in the hopes of you guys getting to TNG so I'm glad it's in future plans and also glad that you're going to be complete about it. The first two seasons are more spotty in quality but they're mostly the result of trying to simply recreate TOS, and Season 3 is when the show really started finding its own identity. Even so, the first two seasons absolutely have backstory impact in many ways on the rest of the series, right up to the end, so it'd be a mistake to miss that.

Count me as someone else that would like to see a 60s Batman Reaction. Since Josh has seen the first motion picture you could do the Zodiac Crimes story that was supposed to be the sequel but they didn’t release it theatrically, just used the content for 3 episodes.

I think you will appreciate the early seasons. It is more similar to TOS because it’s the TOS team getting the ball rolling. I have fond memories of the early seasons but someone who watched it all in reruns would not appreciate it compared to the later stuff with a different tone.

Jonathan

Oh, it just dawned on me, if you haven't seen it check out The Avengers 1967ish, with Mrs Peel, the greatest female character ever to appear on screen. It's on Prime currently, I believe she starts Season 4, which is where everyone should begin.

It's funny, comic fans for years heaped scorn on.the.Adam West.Batman, but it is infinitely more rewatchable than the Marvel product, as evidenced by the fact it has been airing somewhere every day for 55 years. It's better written than your typical comic book movie or show, which can be ephemeral in enjoyment; in all these years I don't think I have ever heard somesone say they can rewatch Thor again and again. Something which would make a great topic for a reaction--especially since so many people have never heard of it--is Wild Palms from 1993. It's all up on YT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Palms

Thanks, guys. Nice to get your thoughts on these topics. I'd be up for rewatching The Boyz. if Josh is up for waiting a while to watch it, I'm game. It was a little rough to get through in parts for me, not because it was bad, but the level of gore/violence could sometimes be pretty jarring. Season 2 has been my favorite so far. Also, enjoyed the pilot season. I would also be up for watching other, non-sci fi shows, whether it's comedy, drama, westerns, whatever. Not everything is going to be a homerun, but it's hard to know until you do something at least like a pilot sampling. You gotta break a few eggs to make an omleette, etc.

IMHO you have to watch the bad seasons to realize how good the later seasons became. Also, I know this is blasphemous in some circles, DS9 was better than most seasons of TNG.

Ricky Johnson

Truth be told, I am looking forward to the reaction to the bad eps maybe more than the good ones. It is a kind of like Riff Trax sometimes

I'd agree TNG S1 and S2 are not up to the great levels of S3 and up. Season 1 especially has a lot of rough spots. But there's also a lot of callbacks and influences of earlier episodes felt later on. If you want the full effect of watching TNG, those early shows help paint a bigger picture.

Joe Concepts

Thanks Ricky! We will definitely have another pilot month sometime in the future.

Josh (Target Audience)

Yeah we have taken a look at the release timeline. We will decide how to do it as it comes up

Josh (Target Audience)

We’ve heard that from many people but we will for sure be watching every episode. There’s no way we can watch all of TOS & TAS and then just skip the first two seasons of TNG.

Josh (Target Audience)

Josh, you know you are going to have to force Alex to watch the 60s Batman movie. In light of the season length/doesn't get good until season 3 etc. problem - - maybe have a patreon poll to pick the best episodes for something like Babylon 5. Personally, I would like to see you watch at least the first episode of the The Prisoner - several other viewers have expressed some interest in their responses to my comments. You might also try the the pilot movie for Space 1999 - but just stop there - that's as good as it gets. I have been surprised at how much you like Battlestar Galactica - the newer version should be considered for the regular Youtube channel. And finally, you HAVE to watch the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner at the end of TOS. Understand this should probably be on patreon - it is brutal. I think it would evoke the kind of reactions that this channel was made for....

Ricky Johnson

If you continue watching everything by release date, TNG premieres before the TOS movies have finished, and then TNG, DS9, VOY, the TNG movies, and ENT all overlap.

IMO, Star Trek: The Next Generation didn't get good until season 3. In fact, back in the olden days during its first run on television, I stopped watching it until a boyfriend encouraged me to give it another try. If you don't want to skip the first two seasons altogether, maybe check "best of" compilations online to catch the better ones.

Lin Phillips

and by the way, the name is Bond..... James Bond.... I can't resist anytime I see 007

Prof Moff

I really liked the pilot month. I think it a good idea to take a month off from shows like star trek between seasons. I think it gives a break because the same show non stop can dull the reactions. Love the channel
