UNCUT REACTION - Star Trek The Original Series - S2E19 A Private Little War

What gets me about this episode they used the same white gorilla costume on Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. Sans the spine ridges of course since it was actually supposed to be a white gorila.

TOS Sex Scoreboard Soft core porn hits TOS Kirk 7 NEW +1 Chekov 2 Bones 1 Spock 1 Extra: I do not care what anyone says, that was sex. The girl had an intense big O and Kirk did to at the same time. Hands, and moans, and the rocking, and bouncing……….um…. I’LL BE IN MY BUNK………………. Okay this one is counting as a score because if nothing less the incredibly uncomfortable looks on both Josh and Alex face clearly indicates doggin’. Also Spock and Chapel almost had a score too. I’d say 2 or 3 more slaps qualitfy at least that was what my research on

Honestly not too sure what to make of your reaction to this one, but glad you enjoyed it regardless. It's a middling episode for me. It's very direct in it's allegories to the Vietnam war, but there's very little added to it. On the one hand, I understand the sentiment that on Star Trek, you expect a more enlightened solution to be presented. On the other you have the villagers being killed and their women being passed off to be raped. Either you give the hill people, the more enlightened group, the means to defend themselves, or eventually the more savage villagers will wipe them out and be all that's left. I appreciate the lore continuity of bringing up the previously established location of the vulcan heart, because Spock was hit almost dead centre in the chest. Also revisiting Chapel's feelings for Spock is good continuity as well. Strange episode, lacking resolution

"Let's start with the gorilla" LOL You guys break me up !

"Camera pans down" Oh so the Maka root massage AND a happy ending.

Your reactions were great! Interesting how you take what many regard as an average to above average episode and enjoy the heck out of it. Star Trek is different things to different people. That what makes it great. It was interesting how the planet's name wasn't mentioned in the episode even though it was in the script. BTW the planet's name is Neural.

I enjoy this episode. One think that is so odd and yet great is that Nurse Chapel is the most minor of all the characters and yet she is the only one of all of them that is given this ongoing throughline. Not even Kirk has this ongoing desire or goal. The next episode is one I like a lot, is a real showcase for Nimoy, and Shatner gets to ham it up a little. This one I don't think is one of the best, I love Spock's parents, Mirror Mirror, Tribbles, and Mrs Spock. It's good but those other are all key to the lore, this not so much.

Honestly, I thought you guys were going to roast the hell out this episode. One thing about the Magatu, once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

BURKE Wells

Don't know if you guys saw the conedy film Zoolander but the villian Mugatu played by Will Farrel had a ridiculous white wig was a reference directly to the Mugato creature according to Ben Stiller

Sherman Lin

That's actually hilarious

Thank you Jonathan!

There is an apocryphal story about the Spock scene. Booker Bradshaw who played Dr. M'Benga said the director was unsatisfied with the way he was striking Spock. He then hit him so hard, Nimoy jumped up and grabbed him by the throat. This caused a breakdown on set with everyone from actors to stagehands falling over themselves in laughter.

I think that was one of your top 5 if not the best reaction you have done so far. I have a love hate relationship with this episode, it has more continuity than most and real danger but the guy in the gorilla suit and the horny acting choices just usually make me give up. This is the first time I’ve seen it all the way through in decades. This writer also did The Alternate Factor so his writing has improved. The buildings were a backlot western set so it was not as expensive to make. I think it was left unresolved to make you think since the Vietnam war which this was commentary on was also unresolved

Jonathan

A little bit of Cold War and a lot of Vietnam which was going on. You can't get to the Federation's future until everyone wants to go there.
