UNCUT REACTION - First Time Watching Galaxy Quest (Subscriber Special)

We hit 2,000 YouTube subscribers and they all overwhelmingly chose for us to watch Galaxy Quest! Here is our full uncut reaction to the full movie! We did this in person and watched it on a tv so there is some background audio assistance for the syncing as well.

I am aware there was some hesitancy from some subscribers about us watching this movie now instead of further on in our Star Trek journey. We considered this, but ultimately decided the lead this film had in the poll over all the others was just too large to disqualify it on that basis. However, it's definitely a movie we would be open to rewatching in the future after we have completed more of Star Trek to see if we appreciate anything we didn't catch this time around!

Early Access to the YouTube edited reaction will be posted in the coming days!

Thank you for being a Patron and enjoy!

UNCUT REACTION - First Time Watching Galaxy Quest (Subscriber Special)

Comments

This one is due for a rewatch!

Steven Johnson

You kinda made the point you were disagreeing with. You just named a bunch of comedies where the sequels were vastly inferior to the original.

John

I only just now saw that you had reacted to this, (I subscribed early season 1 of TNG) so I came back to watch it. Leonard Nimoy called Galaxy Quest one of the best Star Trek movies ever made.

John

Good comedy sequels? How about Ghostbusters, Meet the Parents / Meet the Fockers, Back to the Future, National Lampoon’s Vacation / Christmas Vacation?

I use that line all the time now -- oohhhhh, that's not right.

Ricky Johnson

Tony Shalhoub's character was played as if he were high throughout his scenes in the movie. Also, and I only recently learned this myself, his character of Tech Sargeant Chen and even the actor's name of Fred Kwan is of course supposed to be an Asian character but played by a race other than Asian which TV shows and movies used to do for years but his was based on how David Carradine played Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu. But what is hilarious with Tony Shalhoub is that when he is introduced to the Thermions and during the relaunch of the Galaxy Quest series he visibly squints his eyes to look Asian.

Brad Barter

This was Sam Rockwell's first big role. I love his comment to Jason about making a weapon "Can you find a lathe?" in reference to Arena in Star Trek with Kirk and the Gorn. And later when Fred and the alien are going at it "Oh, that's not right!". So awesome.

Enjoyed your reaction. First off, this started as an R rated movie but was changed after it was filmed to PG-13. Supposedly there is an R cut in existence. I wanted to point that out quickly. Clearly, this rewards the fans who’ve read the autobiographies of the actors from Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner. Remember, Star Trek had been around for 33 years and had 8 movies and 5 tv shows, plus documentaries and tv specials. Fans knew the inside jokes. Not only for TOS but TNG. This references the OG cast after Trek was canceled and the actors had to scramble for work prior to the movies. After you guys watch the OG movies, you should pick up their autobiographies. They’re fantastic reads, not only for actors getting into the business but also for their life experiences. Honestly, you guys have only scratched the surface. George Lucas has said “Star Wars stands on the shoulders of Star Trek” The more the you guys learn, you’ll see how true that is.

BURKE Wells

YAY! Especially coming off of Season One of Star Trek, you should get more than a few references. Enjoy!
