Babylon 5

Hello Patrons!

A lot of our YouTube comments have recommended Babylon 5.

If we were to react to it, due to the length and quantity of episodes and us wanting to remain prioritizing Star Trek, we probably wouldn’t be reacting to every single episode, although we would be watching them all.

We would most likely react to the original film, and then the first episode. Then after that we are not sure.

So, we would appreciate your guys’ input on a few things:

1. Are you interested in Babylon 5 reactions?

2. Do you have access to HBO Max where it is streaming so you could watch full uncut reactions?

3. What episodes after the first one would you enjoy reactions to? (No spoilers please)

I think it would be cool to do the Babylon 5 pilot movie at some point. Not sure you are going to want to do the series.

Jonathan

Thank you Mike! BSG will definitely be a consideration in the future!

Hi there I'm a new Patreon (number 33!) and you are the first channel to get me to sign up to Patreon so I can watch Star Trek TOS with you guys! B5 not interested. In my humble opinion Battlestar Galactica from 2004 is in your wheelhouse. Very well told stories with many layers and social commentary. You would need to start with the mini series that SyFy channel used to "dip their toes in the water" to gauge interest before making the series. BSG is my favorite sci-fi show since Star Trek TOS. It's up to you guys obviously but I really feel you would love this show. Its 4 seasons with 76 episodes. Keep up the great work.

B5 meh, BSG was great,

B5 is like TOS in that there is a lot of character development. This is great and it is what makes the show good. However, unlike TOS you can't just jump in and "get it" because of the long arks. The characters are what I call "long suffering" and you really must see it gradually develop. Also, I like the character in B5 and the show is worth watching but the "science" part of the science fiction is pretty weak - but so is Star Wars(is classified as science fantasy not science fiction). If you are going to do B5 do the movie and season 1 ep.6 - this will give you a great feel for the show.

Ricky Johnson

You mean now that he and his mini-me Alex Kurtzman has completely destroyed the spirit and feeling of Star Trek?

Pondo

J. J. Abrams has totally changed about Star Trek. He didn’t appreciate it as a kid and was a big Star Wars fan but now he loves Kirk, Spock and Bones and is a true Star Trek fan.

BURKE Wells

Negative on the Babylon 5. I wasn't a fan of it when it was on back in the 90s. There's so much better Sci-Fi out there. Also, I would skip Jar Jar Abrams' Star Trek. They are crap! The stupid jerk didn't even like Trek. Maybe do "Firefly" next if you guys haven't seen it.

Pondo

I respect others love for the show, but if it takes time away from more Trek and would delay Trek releases by you, I would say nay...

I think I’d wait until you both get to Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Both shows primarily take place on big space stations. Both are similar as they both have long story arcs. They were essentially rival shows and were compared to each other. It would be more fun to see your takes as you flip between the 2 shows. What about the latest Twilight Zone. Does it live up to the original. Not many episodes to get through.

BURKE Wells

B5 is like TOS in that character development is what makes it enjoyable. The problem is that there are long story arcs that you must see to understand where the characters are coming from. The character development is done very differently than TOS. For a lack of terminology - -I will say the are "long suffering". I would watch the pilot movie and Season 1 ep.6 mind wars. That will give a good feel for the show. The science isn't good but the story and character development are superb. I'm game....

I love Babylon 5. I think most shows need some time to get going, but I feel like B5 hit the ground running. It would be hard to decide which episodes to eliminate. I also think the show actually got better in the second season. They worked the change into the story in a great way, also.

I watched the pilot episode as it aired around the same time Deep Space 9 premiered and I loved it. Then I saw a few of the episodes following and didn't care for the changes they made to it. Also I bought a copy of the pilot episode on DVD and as I had recorded the pilot on VHS I noticed the music throughout had changed and some scenes were cut that made my initial hype reaction sour again but even with the changes I preferred it over the main series. I also don't have HBO and wouldn't be interested in the full series either way, that being said you guys do you and watch what you wanna watch and I will continue the Star Trek journey whatever you decide.

Brad Barter

I have HBO Max and I watched much of the series when it was on but I've never been interested in rewatching it. I'd watch a full length of the pilot but not really interested beyond that. Thanks for asking.

Gary Leyh

I don't have HBO Max, so that would be a miss for me.

Lin Phillips

Maybe the pilot. Not sure I'd be interested beyond that. I watched the show when it was out. Very well written. I lost interest because something in real life happens to one of the main actors and they're replaced. I really liked them, so I my interest dwindled even though I kept watching for a few more seasons.
