I love that... besides The Lady of the Lake and the evil bastard that was Peter Quint... the rest of the hauntings are either harmless or psychological. None of the other ghosts, like the little boy, have tried to scare or harm anyone. Dani's and Henry's personal hauntings were/are the manifestations of guilt, regret, and shame. Dani has dealt with hers and moved on. And Henry is finally taking some action... instead wallowing in his late brother's banishment.

2026-01-28 05:19:32 +0000 UTCHenry Thomas (Henry Wingrave) really kills it. He was great in Hill House, but he gives such a stellar performance in The Jolly Corner. He portrays that pain and guilt so well, plus the ability to put on a face so creepy and unsettling, is just wonderful. Also fun little fact. When his Grinning alter ego makes him relive the moment he learns of their deaths, he drops the phone and leaves it off the hook, then returns to his brother's office. So when he makes the call to Bly after he gets a bad feeling, the phone is still off the hook in the other room. He's too addled with alcohol, guilt, regre,t and worry to realize it. It's always mind blowing to remind yourself "Oh yeah he's the kid from ET"

2026-01-27 14:53:14 +0000 UTCI tried to watch it several years ago but I got so lost that I gave up. It's fascinating this time around as Im picking up more and putting more and more together. I haven't seen Midnight Mass or House of Usher but Im totally down to check those out! I think I started both but couldn't get into them on my own (no discredit to the shows - it took me FOUR tries to get past the first episode of Stranger Things; just gotta be in a receptive mood when I start a new show or watch along with R&T to get into it.)

2026-01-27 06:49:22 +0000 UTCPeter Quint is such an evil bastard. Obviously his sexism peeked through in little ways with Becks, but you saw it more when he interacted with Ms. Grosse or Jaime. Then we find out his father violated him and his friends when he was little and despite all that he does the same thing to Miles since that's essentially what he's been doing to miles. The actor is great because with Luke in Hill House, your heart breaks for him, but Peter fockin' Quint you just want to punch, lol. I'm glad you're so invested in the show. Bly Manor is my favorite as well. The others are all still great. Midnight Mass, Midnight Club, etc but Bly Manor is still my favorite. This show also introduced me to Rahul Kohli (Owen the Cook) he's just so lovely. he's in the other shows as well, so there's that to look forward too! I also hope The Mighty Nein ends up on your 1 season show list. its new, so only one season so far, 8 episodes. a mature, animated fantasy show with politics and interesting characters like Arcane. (Rahul Kohli is in that too!) So lovely getting to watch you two react to Bly Manor. one of my fav shows of all time. Flannigan is the king of monologues.
