2025-03-19 21:48:40 +0000 UTCI've always been more attracted to the universe of the Justice League, felt very nostalgic about it, since I remember watching the cartoons as a kid, and dad loved Superman, and I dressed as Wonder Woman for carnival as a teen, and i was ridiculously happy when they started building the characters to achieve that consolidated world, and not that Marvel is doing a great job right now with the big picture, but DC seemed to have crapped on the best they had going on, even for the parallel stuff, as Joker and Pattinson's Batman. This whole reboot it seems so unnecessary, the Snider's cut is so good, I love it, that I don't know how this whole thing is going to turn out as one solo vision that is so particular, Gunn's vision, tone, flourishes. I do appreciate him discovering our fantastic Melchior though, we are very proud of her ☺️. Anyway, glad you had a great time watching it.

2025-03-16 20:09:11 +0000 UTCthis movie is in the same universe as the other suicide squad movie, i dont know where you got the idea that they are in different universes. some events or characters may be canon to the new james gunn dcu if they are later mentioned but the movie was made with the intention and the context of being in the same universe as the old dceu.

The scene where Harley is going down the hallway and there are flowers everywhere was actually really well done I read it as her being so insane and desensitized that it was just a fun happy walk through the park for her. I loved the shark I honestly wanted him to do ten mustache disguise because I felt bad for him.

To be clear, it's not that I absolutely want them to watch the first Suicide Squad in itself because this movie is what it is, but the provided pieces of context for several characters would have been cool for them to have, especially for Harley Quinn. On a personal note I really liked seeing Flag's evolution between the two movies. And in any case I really think they would have liked Birds of Prey too. In the end I was just hoping for Rob & Trin to watch the DCEU in a chronological order like the MCU, X-Men etc, but it's not that important I wish I had phrased my words in a better way. And as I say at the end of my original comment, I really wanted them to watch this movie for a long time anyway, so I absolutely take the win my friend 🤝

I love the previous DCEU movies, my point is that to enjoy this movie and completely understand it: you do not need to watch any previously released movies. Yes, they can give you a different view of this movie but they are definitely not a requirement. Technically anything the returning characters(Flag, Waller, Etc) did in the 2016 version, Never happened in the 2021 version. Of course seeing Rob&Trin watch the rest of the DCEU would be awesome, but one of the reasons this movie won the poll was because its a great Standalone superhero flick. I say take this small win and have an awesome day. (seriously, have a great day stranger lol) (EDIT: also i wouldnt be surprised if Rob&Trin end up watching Peacemaker S1 in the future since hes so great)

And do I really need to mention Rick Flag who is an integral part of both movies ? Waller ? It was sold as a soft reboot by Warner so people don't assimilate this movie with the 2016 one but it just is a sequel. And respectfully too, you may not care for the other movies but that doesn't mean they aren't important. Much love to you too

It is a reboot, the movies share some characters but they are technically in different universes. I understand that some people could have a different experience watching this movie if they had seen all DCEU projects beforehand, But it is NOT a necessity in order to have a great time with this version of the Squad. As a total fanboy myself, I get where you're coming from, but its irrelevant. Much love.

Especially when I know we were several to tell you the correct order... and no plans to watch Peacemaker too I suppose ? Also why watch this now (not that I mind, I love this movie) when you barely started the actual DCU with Man of Steel and nothing else ? Why skip Birds of Prey when it's so important for Harley Queen's character arc between both Suicide Squad movies, especially regarding Joker's influence on her etc ? I guess the point I want to make is : as a fan, I'd like for the DCU to be treated with the same care as the MCU, and for you to not listen negative people telling you stuff about something THEY didn't like and that you didn't watch yet (which you usually don't already, so why now)... Imagine if you skipped Moon Knight or Miss Marvel because some people told you it was shitty. /fanboy mode off Having said that, I wanted you to watch this specific movie for years now, so even if I complain about the context, I'm very happy it's finally here and I know I'll still enjoy the reaction 🫶

2025-03-16 14:04:47 +0000 UTCI still think you guys would like the rest of the old DCEU movies, you guys really liked Man of Steel so I assume you would like the rest, you guys also form your own opinions, which is why your one of the best reaction channels out there, so I do hope you react to them eventually I think you will have a good time, also The Joker and The Batman are part of the Elseworld series of movies in their own timelines, we got The Penguin tv series that is set right after The Batman and will lead into The Batman 2, so I also hope you guys watch that :D

Some of the characters that appeared in the first movie also have a role here, but you didn’t really need to watch the first one because this movie is kind of its’ own thing. James Gunn has a habit of hiring the same actors across various projects that he works on. For example, you probably wouldn’t recognize him without the blue makeup but Michael Rooker portrayed Yondu in the Guardians movies before portraying Savant. Also, Weasel was portrayed by James’ brother Sean who was also Kraglin. Funny enough in a similar sense, some of the actors who had a role here would go on to appear in the Holiday Special and Volume 3. James also has a habit of making people laugh and pulling at their heartstrings as he has previously proven. With that said, my favorite funny moment was Bloodsport yelling “it’s your mom!!!” Overall, Bloodsport is my favorite character in this film. Why wouldn’t he be? It’s Idris Elba. He was also Heimdall. This movie is the kickstarter to James’s Gunn’s new DC universe. It also paves the way to John Cena’s Peacemaker series. The first season is on HBO Max, and it’s only eight episodes long. The second season will premiere in August, but there’s also another series you would have to watch in between Peacemaker seasons 1 and 2. It’s an adult animated series called Creature Commandos, and the first season is only seven episodes long.
