The Expanse S5E1+2 Exodus - Churn

Sorry bit late I'm catching up. That guy you recognise in Baltimore also plays in a show called Banshee, that you guys would absolutely love (main character is Anthony starr, homelander). Also have you heard about For all mankind? That would be perfect after the expanse

Ooo yeah, that sounds right. I think you are 100% correct.

I think Amos' mother was also an addict and I thought he said something about her selling him into that life for drugs at a very young age. She didn't have anything to do with him after that and then died. I might be remembering that wrong, but that's when I recall.

They didn't say it directly, but Amos(Timmy) was basically used as a sex slave/child prostitute as a kid.. Couldn't image a more tragic way to spend your childhood. Poor kid.

A great season starting out with our crew following different paths. Jared Harris (Anderson Dawes) left this show to work on another sci-fi show, "Foundation", based on Asimov's Foundation trilogy. It's a great show but if you're an Asimov fan, it will likely disappoint. The sequence in the showers where Amos fought the grifters was a much longer, very carefully choreographed linear scene but the editor got creative with it. He called in the show runner, Nareen Shankar, and Wes Chatham ( Amos) and they loved what he had done with the scene. Great to see Monica Stewart back as well, another tough, tenacious female character. And, of course, Drummer. If Avaserala is the Queen of Earth, Camina is the Empress of the belt. Alex Kamal's family comes from a Texan community of South Asians, many of whom would go on the settle in the Mariner Valley on Mars, hence his accent and his Western affinities.

I was so locked in the Amos story, that I almost flipped the table when I realized it was the end of the episode ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Love him calling the QUEEN, Hey Chrissy ๐Ÿ˜

"I'm a member of Parliament, not your favorite stripper" "You could be both" Damn, it's great seeing Avasarala and Amos one-on-one... And finally - FINALLY - after 4 seasons we get a chance to see Amos' - or should I say Timmy's - backstory...and I am totally here for it. I think I teared up twice during his plotline...

Erich is not Amos' blood brother, they are like brothers in arms. Amos' mother was a prostitute I believe, and is long dead. Lydia was a woman who worked for the same crime boss. She sort of took him in after his mom died, and when he got too big for their boss to pimp him out. I haven't read the book but what I gleaned from the previous hints and then the bits we get in these episodes is that Erich and "Timmy" both worked for a mob boss named Amos Burton. They both got pimped out, used as runners, and then later as muscle or whatever capacity he needed them in. Erich messed something up and Burton sent "Timmy" to kill Erich but instead Timmy killed Burton. Then Erich payed off Timmy by getting him a forged identity using the bosses identity so he could leave earth and also to hide the real Amos Burton's death while Erich consolidated power. I love Amos and Wes Chatham solidified himself as one of my favorite actors because of this role. Wes did a supporting role in really good movie called 'In The Valley of Ellah' with Charlize Theron, Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Saradon, and, Josh Brolin. Highly recommend it, you can see bits of where Wes pulled he performance of Amos from in that character. The actor who plays Dawes is Jared Harris. Jared couldn't come back to reprise his role as Dawes because he was booked whenever they wanted to have him back. Expanse's showrunner and creators were so taken with what he had brought to the character they preferred to push Dawes parts offscreen instead of recasting. Jared's father, legendary irish actor Richard Harris. He played many amazing roles throughout his life but the ones most people remember nowadays are that he was the original Dumbledor in the Harry Potter films and also as Marcus Aurelius from 'Gladiator'.
