Dexter S5E12: The Big One

Tell me about it lol. I'm from NJ (with roots in WI and MN) and I always joke that if you don't like cold weather move to Florida. You can always put more layers on; you can only take so many layers off...

I quite enjoyed this season. It had an intensity about it like the previous one, but in a completely different way. Last season was Dexter's obsession. This season was justice. Not to condone vigilantism, but I felt pride in Lumen, and especially in her then being able to walk away. Finished. Complete. Justice for her and 13 other women (counting Emily, who wasn't one of the 12 in the barrels but a victim nonetheless, in so many ways). I do have one disappointment. I truly, truly wanted at the end for Jordan Chase to be informed -- to KNOW -- that the person he had challenged was none other than the Bay Harbor Butcher, a highly successful, prolific serial killer, deadlier than Jordan could ever hope to be (and let's face it, he fancied himself an alpha predator but was merely a pretender to the throne in the end). But he died thinking that Dexter was just a grieving widower who made Lumen's vengeance a pet project. I dunno, I guess it's rather morbid, but I wanted him to know the truth at the end.

I'm a lifelong Alaskan, and it boggles my mind! I absolutely melt -- metaphorically speaking -- when temps reach over 80F, which it can and does in the summers here. Miami would kill me, LOL. For me, cold is when it gets below 40. When I did a road trip through Southern California during fall, I was in t-shirts while the locals were all wearing coats because it was in the low 70s. It's so interesting how people adjust to their own climates.

Finally had the chance to catch up. I absolutely loved Lumen, I wish she made it to the next season but I understand from a character standpoint that she was ready to move on. Season 5 is one of my favorites; 4, 5, and 7 are the top ones so there is more goodness to come!

Satisfying end to a good season! I know it's not a lot of peoples faves but I think it's a good follow up to s3 and the loss of Rita. Lots more to come though! Looking forward to it :) Hope you both had an awesome Christmas, and that the New Year brings all kinds of wonderful to you both!

That season 6 finale 👀... But for me too season 6 is better than 5, I liked it much more. Probably my favourite is still the second one, even though I can t get past some serious plot holes. Nothing is perfect in the end.

Peoples opinions are vary. I do not like season 5 a lot for me 6 is better than 5. 6 is more religion and inner conflict heavy. I think dexter figure himself a lot in season 6 and also has a great season finale. I was have to wait a year for season 7 😂

How can you tell it's winter in Miami? The temps get down below 60 Fahrenheit which to Floridians is freezing cold...

Amazing finale. I kinda wish Deb saw that it was Dexter I really want her to know that will add some major drama. Also Dexters reaction to Lumen leaving had me really sad, you could actually see the spark off hope leave his eyes when she said she told him.

I don't understand how anyone cannot like this season. Its so perfect after 4. Dexter had to deal with his loss and his responsibility for it. It was perfect! Now, 6 is just horrible. It has some great moments and some great characters so hang in there, but it is not the best. Sorry, JMO

That very close call... with Deb choosing to let them go, unseen... is forever vivid in my mind. Such a 'heart in your throat' moment. Loved this Season and Lumen. Bittersweet to say goodbye, but for the best.

ahhh goodbye season 5. and goodbye lumen. love this season, love lumen. its always sad to see her go but i totally understand her decision. eventually the knowing everything dexter is doing would weigh her down, put her in danger just like Rita was. after all she's been through, she deserves to go have a life away from all that. and now we have a blank slate going into s6 which i think is going to be fun to see your reactions to. ofc, i've enjoyed re-watching dexter along with yall through all these last seasons too, but we're getting closer and closer to a couple of my favorite characters in the series. not quite there yet, but the things that will be happening next; excited to see what yall will think about them!

I think I stopped breathing when Deb found Jorden's body and Dex and Lumen were still there. My mind was racing wondering how this would play out. Great season

Christmas Eve here in Australia. Thank you and a Merry Christmas to Rob & Trin, and everyone in the group. 🎄❤️🎄 Dexter may not be traditional Christmas viewing, but I’m okay with that today. Really emotional, but satisfying end to this season. I’m sad for Dexter, but happy that Lumen can move on.
