The Expanse S3E1+2 Fight or Flight - IFF

Comments

IFF is a great episode, however it contains possibly the worst scene in the show..Because you have Naomi, a belter, ask Alex, 'what's IFF?' Now, I know they have to explain what that is for the audience members who might not know that particular acronym, but it would've been better if Prax had asked it, because Naomi would definitely know that.. Also, we get the introduction to Pastor Anna, who doesn't actually come into the story, book-wise, quite yet, but she's getting the same treatment as Avasarala and Bobbie, in that they introduce them a bit earlier than in the books and give them an interesting pre-book arc..She's probably introduced this particular way, so the audience can have someone they like on Earth for those scenes..

I needed my Expanse fix.....it felt like forever since last week, that's a sign of addiction, right?

I can’t hear the into music without hearing the watcher from marvel what if just saying “time….” I love that what Naomi did isn’t just “forgive and forget” she talks a lot about teamwork and family but she does something behind their backs.

The Razorback was basically the racing ship that Mao sponsored for Julie. Chrisjen is rad, Chrisjen and Bobby is unstoppable. Edit: Knowing the basic order of the planets helps to keep track of where folks are. Venus is 2nd from the sun, The Inner planets, Earth is the 3rd planet, Mars is 4, then you go through the belt before you get to Jupiter at 5. So typically when they describe movement is out to belt and beyond but inward toward the Inner planets. So when Miller got Julie to divert Eros away from Earth it went past Earth(3), and crashed into Venus (2). That is where the Arboghast got disassembled. Ganymede and Io are both moons of Jupiter out at 5. Tycho and the other belter stations like Eros, Tycho, Pallas and Ceres are situated around the belt between Mars (4) and Jupiter (5). So the Roci left Tycho to go out to Ganymede around Jupiter to help Prax and track down Strickland. After they saved the few they could on Ganymede, they headed back inwards, towards the Belt. Then they got sidetracked with the Hybrid that snuck on the Roci, but after that they were sort of hanging around in space trying to figure out what station they could go to in the belt besides Tycho. Mao's yacht where Chrisjen, Bobbie, and Cotyar got stuck was in a neutral zone out in space between Mars and Jupiter as well. So when Bobbie and Chrisjen escaped on the Razorback they were also in the vicinity of the Roci. Holden and them got the distress beacon and it was near enough by the could head towards them to help and then head back out to Io around Jupiter to the secret lab. Basically the are hopping back and forth between the belt and Jupiter's moons for most of the show to this point. There are some good maps of the solar system that gave me a way better perspective of the topology/geography of the where events occured.

"Hitch your tits and pucker up!" I'm definitely using that sometime. I was looking forward to Rob's reaction when Elizabeth Mitchell showed up...was biting my tongue for a long time on that. The concept and production designers had waaaay too much fun designing the Razorback - probably one of the coolest spaceships ever devised. Also, I could watch Amos welding in a sleeveless shirt all day, thank you very much...

It's Crisjen Avasarala day!
