Echo S1E4+5 Taloa - Maya

I don't think it is still a direct tied to anything. I have seen the showrunners and actors be fairly vocal on social media about their continued exclusion from the MCU continuity. With all the D+ shows that have come out since it's release, we haven't had a single character from AoS as a cameo on any show that I can think of, even in "What If...?". I remain vague about it, so that if Rob and Trin do decide to watch it, they won't get spoiled. From their watching history I do they would really AoS.

Agents of SHIELD is still directly tied to the MCU. I can’t explain why without spoiling, but it’s still worth checking out. Maybe in the new year.

Omg I have waited so long, FINALLY IT IS DAREDEVIL TIME!! 😍

From what I've read, there was never an intention to have a season 2 of Echo - it was designed as a mini-series to delve into the character and prime her for potentially more appearances in other titles later on. And according to the usual sources, Echo actually got mostly positive reviews from critics and solid viewership ratings (ranked fifth across all streaming shows for the week it dropped and on par with other Marvel shows). I think Disney's decision to drop all the episodes at once instead of the usual weekly prevented Echo from getting more buzz - but I think it works better as a binge-watch anyway.

Echo couldn't have healed her mom. Her mom was killed on impact the power is healing not resurrection. Also my understanding of her ability is that she can only channel an ancestor after they die. Many cultures believe that's the beauty of death that we are bound by our bodies and when we are freed we can be channeled by the next generations

I hadn't dug into it so that is good to know, with the current state of Disney+ shows, i feel like if we see Echo season 2, it won't be for awhile. It really sucks that they hamstring the creator of this show then got mad that the product wasn't received as well as it could have been. Seem like a recurring theme on Disney+. Loki and Andor seem to have dodged that fate, and Agatha's show has been really cool so far so here's hoping they turn it around.

You get a taste of Kingpin's back story here but surprisingly they didn't spoil too much. You will learn his MCU origins when you watch Daredevil which I am very excited to see on the schedule. I love all of the Netflix shows so it will be fun to watch along with y'all. While it is now in the MCU when it was a Netflix exclusive it skirted heavily around the events of the movies, basically existing in it's own continuity. Later this year or next we're get the Daredevil: Born Again series which is fully bringing teh Netflix series' into the MCU an I can't wait for that. The other MCU adjacent show was Agents of Shield, which has way more integration with MCU Phase 1 and 2 movies but it also breaks off on it's own after around Age of Ultron. Very worthwhile series but unlike the Netflix shows, Disney/Marvel have chosen to not absorb it into the continuity fully. Many of the Disney+ shows like Echo under performed and Disney has decided to pump teh breaks so I don't think we will another season of Echo but i feel like we may see her in other shows. The Miles Morales Kingpin has his own origin and that is separate from the MCU like most of the Sony Spider-Man Properties before Tom Holland. It all really has to do with Disney not owning the rights to Spider-Man and the related characters, for movies, television, and video games. Tom Holland Spider-Man is still connected to the MCU for now. The Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield's worlds are just as separate as the Mile Morales animation. Venom, Morbius (bad), Madame Web (also bad) and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie are all more connected to the Sony side of things. I still wonder if they are going to integrate them with the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies at some point. Sony is going to have a hard time topping SM: No Way Home. that was a great movie. Where they left it does have more of an opening for a soft reboot with Tom Holland Spider-Man or even a new one if Tom is tired of doing it.

Looking forward to Daredevil, I enjoyed it. I did watch Echo before Daredevil, I preferred it that way. Daredevil is a good series, not my top favorite though. It took me awhile to get into it though. I'm hyped and looking forward to the time R&T get to Deadpool and Wolverine movie, and Agatha All Along, I'm loving it so far 😁😁

I’d honestly rather kingpin and echo get roped into a bigger MCU movie or show I’d like to see both of them again in something else

James

I can understand your concern and really want them form their own opinion but DD is definitely not suffering in any aspect from being made 10 years ago… I think it’s one of the few shows that you can take the marvel part out of the equation and it’s still absolutely freakin brilliant. Fight choreo, writing, cinematography. There’s a reason why it’s so many people’s favorite.

Cynthia

literally after every episode i'm like "i can't wait for rob and trin to see this!!!!!!!!" 😂 ugh its gonna be a blast when it finally comes around

YaYa

No season 2. This was a Marvel Spotlight. It’s a one and done, however, the end credits should come into play for the MCU Daredevil series Daredevil: Born Again coming in 2025.

You guys will learn more about Fisk soon. :)

The creators originally planned to have 6 episodes, but they were only given 5 which is why - to me anyway - the last episode feels a bit rushed in its climax. Regardless, Tantoo Cardinal and Vincent D'Onofrio absolutely killed it in their scenes here. BTW, there is a series currently streaming on Disney+ that I think you will enjoy...I know you'll get to it in due time.

i enjoyed this show! it isn’t top tier MCU, but it has a lot to appreciate and it sets up a really exciting future for the street level mcu heroes. i am really looking forward to seeing Maya again someday

The actress who portrayed Maya’s mom Taloa is Katarina Ziervogel. She’s from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba. She has Ojibwe and Mohawk roots, and she’s also a deaf person. When she arrived to set on her first day, one of the PA’s started signing with her. Katarina asked if she learned ASL, and it wasn’t long until she noticed others doing the same. Many were still learning, but they were putting in the effort to communicate. The reason I bring this up is because Alaqua was asked if there was anything they could do to make the show better months ahead of filming. She said it would be great if some people would learn some basic ASL. As a result, the cast and crew took some classes before they started working on the show. Alaqua admitted that she didn’t get to know Vincent very well when they were working on Hawkeye. She understood why though. She described him a method actor – someone who focuses on his character. With this series on the other hand, they had more scenes to do together in both flashbacks and present-day. As a result, they had more time to rehearse and along the way they got to know each other better. He would even offer her some advice on acting. Alaqua said her superhero costume was her favorite piece of clothing in the entire show. The outfit is decorated with a lot of diamonds. Alaqua explained in an interview that the diamonds among Choctaws mean Diamondback Rattlesnake. They look at the pattern and respect it because the rattlesnake is a powerful animal. Cultural coordinator Peshawn Bread has said that beadwork takes a lot of time. As such, whoever makes it needs to do so out of good intention and not pour any negative energy because someone will wear it. The finished product is like medicine because whoever wears it will also absorb the energy it’ll provide.

Really enjoying this show. Looking forward to the finale, and then moving on to Daredevil. Please remember that Dardevil was made almost 10 years ago. I love it, and I’m excited for Rob and Trin to see it, but now we’re so close, I’m concerned that it’s been a bit overhyped here. Just want expectations to be realistic. 😬
