This show is amazing from start to finish. I'm so glad you decided to watch it, and I am absolutely enjoying watching it with you two. P.S.: ...I knew, you'd love it! ;D

Alexena

Watching this single episode was the right call. This episode is the ending of the first book of the expanse, the plot from now on gets a bit more political.

Today is Contact

It was the right decision Rob and Trin, the episode is stand alone anyway and the reveal of what is to come deserves a bit of waiting. Also I'm the one that said the places are real, glad to see you read the comment, I find both space and the show's attention to detail fascinating. There are awesome things going on space wise lately, today was the first comercial spacewalk from SpaceX, there are Two missions comming up to study the moons of Jupiter for life signs, also in a few years Nasa will send a nuclear drone to fly on Titan, the moon of Saturn, it has actual rain and lakes/seas, but made of liquid gases like Methane and others. The last thing, the planet that Eros hit in the show was Venus, in reality the planet has a temperature of 700 degrees celsius and is very acidic/corosive also it has a few hundred times more athmosphere than earth, so if you go there you would be burned, squished and melted by acids, not a very pleasent place, the longes a probe lasted there is an hour i think.

Deathhead

Yeah, but that asteroid is capable of bending the laws of physics so the impact wasn't that hard. There is a very funny(maybe morbid though) scene about rapid decelaration later on which shows the show's atention to detail(#fastest man in the system).

BLADE 2 TODAY?

NYStreetPunisher

Probably one of the, if not the best episode of TV that I have ever watched. These Miller/Julie scenes were on a whole other level, and Amos toasting to the empty space at the table gets me every time, especially after everything that happened in 2x01. Also, kudos to Florence for making us care so much about Julie with such a small amount of actual screen time. This will forever be my favourite TV show, and it's just getting started.

Chris 1103

Because binging in two days, is not at all the same as watching it week by week? Because the last two episodes usually are semi two-parters as well and make more sense to watch one after the other? There's plenty of reasons as to why, you just have to want to see it, really.

MSephiroth

A couple fun book 1 facts: It's only in the POV of Miller and Holden..Avasarala and Bobbie aren't in Book 1, though Avasarala gets mentioned a few times, if I recall.. There's supposed to be a mechanic who helps fix the Roci on Tycho named Sam who hangs out with Naomi..Drummer (the woman working with Fred) kinda absorbed that character's role.. TV Drummer is a book character sponge.. (I can never remember when we learn Drummer's name in the show, somehow I always miss it as well, but since I know who she is, it's not a big deal to me..)

Superpotroast

I'm only going to announce end of book after they get to those particular episodes, if no one else in the comments beats me to it..

Superpotroast

My point: What does it matter though? At the end of the season why can't the 13th episode be watched back to back with the 1st episode of the next season? They could easily just watch 2 episode pairings up until the final episode of the series, and then watch a single one if it ends on an odd number. This just seems like it's been overcomplicated for no reason. You yourself say... it's a nice stopping point story-wise. Why? They will be watching the next episode eventually, right? You can binge watch the show in 2 days and not have a lesser experience because you didn't take a break at specific moments.... I just don't get the logic. The story is the same, whether you watch is a week apart, or 5 minutes later.

Keith Duperreault

GOOD THINKING doing this episode as a stand-alone! Makes for a smoother ride for the rest of the season 🥰

Gilstead

The Julie/Miller scene could easily have been silly, but Florence Faivre and Thomas Jane's acting, the production design, visual effects and especially the music make it so moving. It blew me away the first time I watched it...almost forgot it was a Syfy series - at the time Syfy was better known for lower budget, pulpier fare. The Expanse was a whole other level.

Michael Celia

Never would of thought we would be getting a emotional alien make out when I first started this show! But damn did it really suck me into the universe all the questions you are left with! Can't wait for you to continue on!

Cody Taylor

I feel like this is more about the season having an odd # of eps and one week would have only one episode, so this was a good 1 episode as it's a bit of a stopping point, story-wise. It could've been any episode as the singular one and not about how the show should be watched.

Thadman

Well it wasn't going to destroy Earth just like.. up to two thirds of the population including fallout by their estimates :/ Venus is only very slightly smaller

Mitch

Rob “Where do we go from here?” Me: *starts humming “We’ve Only Just Begun” by the Carpenters.*❤️🚀😉

Beware The Jabberwock

You asked how Miller would be able to turn off the automatic reset now when he couldn't before (when he said at the beginning that he wanted to get off this rock and have the Roci pick him up). Last episode Naomi told him to give her the code for the bomb and she'd take control remotely. He said something like there wasn't enough time 'cause the Nauvoo was coming up fast. I don't remember exactly what he said, but he turned down the option before. So, now that it missed Eros, he's like, "OK, you can come get me now." But...well, that wasn't an option now.

Thadman

Sorry Trin. If you were splitting it no matter what of course it's perfect to do here. I misinterpreted what was said about it before now and got all pissy I own that 🤐

Mitch

Makes sense ty

Mitch

I personally wouldn't have thought any differently if you watched E05 & E06... is it a natural dividing point in the story and the books? Yes. It can be watched one after the other, though..... I mean 10's of thousands of people have binge watched the show and not taken a break, and they enjoyed the series just as much as everyone else. I just wonder sometimes why such emphasis is put on 'you must watch this show that way.' --shrug-- Either way, glad you liked it. This has been your introduction. Now the SHOW begins.

Keith Duperreault

*EROS ON COURSE TO VENUS* *EROS ON COURSE TO VENUS* *EROS ON COURSE TO VENUS* *EROS ON COURSE TO VENUS* Rob & Trin: " I wonder what planet it went to. Is that Venus?" You crazy kids kill me sometimes. 😂❤️

William

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your a new patreon but something you perhaps didn't know but the fact we're actually getting double episodes in the first place has only been very recently and decided by them at no extra cost so if you want to look at it this way, the second episode is a freebie for what your paying for

TheGrouch74

Ep12+13 are a two part finale to the season. Dumb changing that just to please your ungrateful ass lol It's being done for a reason

TheGrouch74

I loved this episode. It made me sad but also was sort of happy to have a bit more Julie? Parts of Julie mixed with the protomolecule? ProtoJulie...? 😂 Lol anyway I loved this, thanks so much for everything you guys do, absolutely loving watching along with you! 💗

Emmy

So if everyone misunderstood you, what would you have suggested for them to do instead?

Eisbär

Nah it's my bad for not divining that odd numbered seasons would mean 2 episodes cut from the schedule mb mb

Mitch

I'm sure you made your point so clear that everyone else missed it, too. Definitely my bad 👁️👄👁️

Eisbär

I try to avoid commenting anything about the structure of forthcoming episodes because I never want to unintentionally manage your expectations or anticipation in any way so I was pretty impressed how no-one had been telling you that you were coming to the finale of book one! Most other reactors I have seen the comments are full of it. Good job mods and everyone :)

Alie

Yeah I've read the books I'm well aware of where this arc ends, if you missed my point maybe it's you that needs to read up

Mitch

The lady that’s with Fred is called Drummer. She’s one of the best characters in the whole series 😌

Deepan Nathan

Amongst other people, I (major fan of this show) did. It's the way to watch this since the actual book finales are S2 Episode 5 (this one) and then again S3E6. So maybe you could read up on a show rather than insulting R&T for "only watching 1 episode this week", for the exact same reason you already provided so accurately, Jesus.

Eisbär

A good place to put a one episode week as a transition between story arcs

Harrison Davies

I hope some how miller isn’t dead I really really liked him at least he went out badass. Unless he returns as an immortal god (I haven’t seen this show before so if that actually happens I will scream) I’m looking forward to next week hoping to see more of the aftermath of that explosion. I’d think an asteroid that large would basically destroy an entire planet

James

Can’t to watch this one with y’all. This one is a doozy — it hits pretty hard. 😭 Next week, book two! Woohoo! 👏🏼📚

William

You did it correctly, R&T.

William

~Trin, We wouldn't have made a finale of a season and episode 1 of the next season in one video anyway, so it was always going to be one video at some point, and we trust our mods in the way this was suggested. and this will happen again on season 3. Really hard to hear that it's less value to your sub, we are not trying to do that. With the amount of things we record every month it's a little bit harsh to hear.
