FIRST TIME WATCHING: Hidden Figures 2016

Comments

First time seeing this movie, I really enjoyed it!!!

Korivex

Are you asking for a mother figure?

June

“The Right Stuff” is one of my all time favorites. Also, it’s FULL of amazing actors that at the time, weren’t as legendary as they are today. Even just a guy running down a hallway in a scene is legendary. 😉 *If you know, you know.*😛

Beware The Jabberwock

So happy you both got to watch this finally. It's one of my all-time faves. I didn't know about Katherine, Dorothy or Mary either, as someone who isn't from America, but I love knowing about them regardless.

SK Ellis

My husband visited family in The South around 2002 and he went to either a pub or a restaurant and it had a sign saying no blacks in the window

Kim Magee

Great reaction as always! I really enjoyed it with you guys. I really got proud of those girls in the movie not gonna lie xD

Goldcrusty

Rob, I do believe you are correct that the dog was the space dog from guardians of the galaxy Christmas special If you’re interested in a good movie about the space program, an old one called the right stuff was a favorite of mine. It’s goofy at times but fairly good history wise.

Beth

We wouldn't have our current space program without these women, and I owe my job to them! I work for Blue Origin designing the simulations used for verifying flight performance before physical testing/flight. I rely a lot on computers, but there's nothing more comforting than a hand calculation backing up a computer's work.

John Borek

Honestly this was a mild showcase of how segregation and racism was in the 50s and 60s in Americas south but it did get the point across. People were spit on, harassed, threatened and even severely beaten up it was really really bad there. It’s a little unrealistic but I get them not wanting to make the movie too dark though but I did really love this movie, the acting and the story were both really good

James

Running half a mile to go to the bathroom could not have been good for her bladder... Seriously though, I don't think I've seen anything where Taraji P. Henson wasn't amazing. And of course Octavia Spencer is a national treasure...

Michael Celia

I thought I had seen this one before, but maybe had it confused with another one. Loved it so much. I relate to them since I've suffered racism in the past, from a young age. But was always top of my class, and thankfully had lots of teachers that were very lovely and always saw my potential and helped me achieve as much as I could and more. Also was very poor, so even though I was the best in grades didn't have the money to participate in honor roll and have my picture taken, trophies, etc. And thankfully in every school I went the principal, or a teacher made sure I get all the prizes and picture taken for free. Because they knew I deserved it.

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Love this movie and so glad to watch your reactions to it . They were the same as mine when I first watched

Lee Shafer

I love this movie. It makes me so emotional and the music is so great. Also, random, but my parents both graduated from a high school named after John Glenn, so he was an astronaut I did know about growing up lol

Emmy

Such a great movie.

Leah B

October Sky is fantastic

Neal Riggins

I live in the area all this happened in so this movie will always feel a little extra special to watch! Definitely dramatized and jazzed up to be more entertaining as a movie, but even though I have never had much interest in science, math or even the Space Race, I loved this movie! Helps that Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and even Janelle Monae are so fun to watch.

Love October Sky 💗

Emmy

Since you' ve hopped on this train, you might as well watch another film about an influential West Virginian in NASA history. October Sky (1999).
