Sorry for the confusion!

We tried to open up the genre options by including a theme (drama/true story/historical etc)

We will make it easier in future and try to lock it into 1 genre only. We thought the collection of genres would make it clear what kind of movies we wanted overall. A lot of complaints about too much family movies or comedies made us think this was a good idea but it seems a lot of people dislike this and we will change it up going forward. We can't change what we have right now but we are listening and will keep it simple from now on ❤️. We all live and learn from our mistakes. Goodluck with your choices in the polls 🤞🏼

Comments

Exactly. But people want to paint anyone that disagrees with them as bad people. As if people can't have their own opinion or need clarification. It isn't attacking Rob and Trin to ask questions to get clarification. All the dramatics in these comments act like anyone that ask a question was going to burn them at the stake. Ridiculous.

Terri

Have you thought about doing something similar to what you have, but when giving the categories in the suggestions, people can suggest a film for 1 or 2 different categories, then making each poll genre specific, so the first movie poll will be all the Dramas, 2nd Historical, 3rd True story (there can be some overlap to make the poles more even) and then the top films are then put into a final poll. you could totally do that with decades, split the poles by first 5 years, then last 5 years...something like that...I dont know, just a thought 😁 Tbf i am happy with whatever you guys do...I love rewatching your vids, feels like i am watching the film with friends 😊 Also I want to say that while i know you can never please everyone, you guys are always very thoughtful. I hope you know you are both very appreciated!

Ellie Rose

An A24/Neon month would be epic.

Jordan Tanner

That's not at all what it was about. But go off.

BadCode

Asking a question IS NOT complaining.

Beware The Jabberwock

Asking for clarification isn’t complaining. Whining about the people asking for clarification IS. Give it a rest.

V

I also confuse a lot of neon with the a24 brand as well but I’d definitely love more indie movies represented

Tatumness

I absolutely would love for them to do a whole month of A24 personally! I wasn’t concerned at all and didn’t mean anything by it!

Tatumness

Well said Wendy! Thank you! Asking for a clarification is in NO way complaining. It’s simply a request for more data. The few people, *myself included*, asking for clarification DID NOT complain about anyone’s movie suggestion or get mad because their movie wasn’t picked (- mine was.) I just wanted to make sure my film suggestion fit within the boundaries set by Rob and Trin. Now that we only suggest a single film, (which I think is a great idea,) I simply want to make my suggestion count. Thank you Rob and Trin!

Beware The Jabberwock

There is nothing to be sorry for. Its the people not u. At the end people will be always moanning if their movie isnt winning or they have no interest in watching movie that won even if it is falling under poll theme. Its just reality we live in

23p23 41

Not all, no. Not sure why that would matter anyway. Are we concerned they’re watching too much Warner Bros? 😅

Jordan Tanner

Aren’t those all just A24?

Tatumness

It's the internet. You can never win.

Mike Drop

I would love to see atmospheric horror/thriller/mystery in the future, but not such on-the-nose horror. Things like The Green Knight, The Lighthouse, Men, Lamb, or The Witch or even something like The Northman.

Jordan Tanner

The way people rush to defense when there was no offense. Patrons wanted a clarification for the future, and there's nothing wrong with that. Because some took it to mean any drama, historical drama, or true. Which includes just about everything. And others took it to mean historical drama or true. This is a two way venue. And nothing wrong with speaking up for clarification. Which Rob & Trin kindly responded to. And it's appreciated.

Wendy Sparks

I understood the poll and that was the reason I didn't suggest any movie because I didn't remember any movie that I liked that would have fit!😁 I love your work guys, you are giving your very best to entertain us. And I have a lot of fun with you.❤

Flopsi80

No, it's mostly the fact that sometimes people don't think and then they blame it on someone else, don't take it to heart Rob and Trin. Also sorry for recommending Chernobyl here, but I don't exactly know where to put it, it's not a movie and it's not really a tv show.

Deathhead

Since when is gone girl a "film based upon true events"? 🤣 You basically answered yourself in your own comment...

Oriana Lo Presti

I'm confused and shocked to play people complaining. There was too many comedy and family films. I don't think there's enough

Kim Magee

Exactly Wendy. Well said.

Jan T

I thought it was pretty clear what movies you wanted in the poll... anyone who complained wasn't even trying to understand.

Angelina Sargent

Can't please everyone. The post explained everything fine. People just need a reason to complain and moan about anything on this app 🙄 true story/ history is not a hard genre to understand. It means 'films based upon true events'

Shelley

Appreciate you both! You're always listening & thoughtful. This is a stacked poll... can't go wrong here. I just thought it was going to be a more focused genre, like historical... since 'drama' includes everything from horror to sci-fi to action and beyond, which is kind of the same parameters as most polls. I have voted for many of the ones winning so far. So for those who say it's sour grapes complaining... it's really not. I always read the suggestions post very carefully... and all of the suggestions. (If everyone did that... we wouldn't get so many repeats... which they ask folks not to do.) But I mistook the theme. Thanks for everything, R&T!

Octavia

So, there were 341 comments on this month's genre choice post. Estimating, let's say that's 250 after removing the duplicates. Rob & Trin choose 4 films from the final voting and 4 they pick themselves (possibly even not from the list). If all but 10 of the suggestions are family friendly, and if the majority opinion is NO FAMILY FILMS, there are still enough to have the 4 films not be family friendly. I don't like horror films, so I don't vote for them. If the majority votes for horror, so be it. I'll just go rewatch one of the Marvel reactions.

Michelle

🫂 no worries, positive vibes to all

Jenny Lee Villanueva

People will just complain if their choices don't get picked. This will be the case no matter how you structure the polls.

Wyatt Eldridge

Personally I didn’t see anything confusing about this poll it seemed pretty straight forward basically the same as every other poll previously.

James

Weird, I didn't find it confusing.

Korivex

I did think a clarification would help with the confusion. Sorry it came across as complaining. Thanks for listening. ♥️ I think nominating a single genre next time is a great idea. We love you both.

Jan T

It's all good. Hopefully in the near future we can get a category that is more specifically about movies based on true stories/dramatic, because there's a lot of good ones in the genre and this time around it seems like the picks are for the most part going in a different direction :) ♥️

Oriana Lo Presti

Thank you 💕💕

baby! no worries! We got some good movies out of it either way.

Alyssa Dyson

Just sad my English did not explain it very well. We can see the confusion and will fix it next time 🤗

I understood the theme of the movie poll and appreciated the reason behind it and your efforts to make everyone feel included. You guys are always trying to make people happy. I'm looking forward to what’ll be in it for us in August! :)

Christine

It's all good loves! and to anyone who thinks people are complaining it seemed they were just trying to clarify the poll thats all. Thanks rob and trin...there are def some really good movies going on this month either way!

Alyssa Dyson

It’s all good, don’t worry about it 🙂

JustJordan

I feel like most people domt read and just put down what they want tbh lol. I didn't care for this genre so I didn't even suggest a film on my end

Ae Jae Meade

We get that and normally we just have to carry on but did not realize our genre breakdown would be so confusing due to bad description. ❤️

Take a Ticket

Yeah we get that but we feel like this one was too confusing for a lot of people and that is down to us. ❤️

Take a Ticket

Don’t worry. People will complain about anything.

Triene (Katie)

Man… Every. Single. Poll. This same thing happens… no matter what kind of movies you try to watch people complain.

Joshua Fields

All good!
