Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

Comments

Which also has someone else they'll recognize from recent reactions.😁

Thadman

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies, along with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, are by far the best in the Marvel universe for me. This was a great watch :)

Daniel Sundgren

Joob Joob ❤️

Ben

in case you werent aware Groot never stopped saying "I am Groot" the "I love you guys" was just us finally understanding him

Steven K

Treat yo'self

Gosh! This movie has all the feels. I’m already tempted to watch the GOTG vol. 1&2 reactions :D

Christine

omg omg omg let’s go i’m so hyped to see ur guys reaction omg omg 😂

matteo

Nothing about their bickering felt out of character and it was much about their growth as a family as it was about Rocket’s backstory.

Rey

In the last credit scene, read the Newspaper article title. It's pretty funny

John Borek

One moment of the film that I thought was so heartbreaking was at the end when Gamora is talking with Groot. When you really think about, Gamora was like a mom to Groot all his life, and it's just so bittersweet that she doesn't remember him at all but finally understands him and he gets a little bit of joy from that. Ugh so emotional, makes me cry thinking about it.

Thurrak

Gamora and the audience can finally understand Groot hence why we hear I love you guys instead ❤️

Cynthia

I hope Adam Warlock "Golden Boy" grows into what he was in the comics. One of the strongest in the Marvel Universe.

Qtr

I think this is the last GOTG movie since James Gunn the director of all three movies has moved to the DCU he’s going to be the Kevin feige of the DCU

Valor

Btw Adam was dumb because he was just barely born lmao

Valor

This movie was a masterpiece, crying and laughing the whole way through

Rafikki

Yeah I LOVED his Suicide Squad and "spinoff" show. They're both fantastic. I'm very excited to see him fix the DCU, he's perfect for job because, as I said, he's just a true fan at heart.

Taryn Clay

Aww that means so much to us 💕💕💕💕💕💕

Been waiting so long for this and your reaction didn’t disappoint! Great as always

AlexH88

Let’s go!! Guardians are the best movies, I think Peter said the first f bomb in the MCU

James

I'm not sure that I can take watching this again. Great movie, but I was such a wreck in the movie theater. Though I would love to see everything Nebula again. She is my favorite character... and I adore her bond with Rocket. (Because they were the only 2 of their group to survive the snap.) My favorite moment... is Nebula's reaction when she gets word that Rocket will make it.

Octavia

Well, now it's time for some Godly entertainment, Loki's next(He's giving us a chance) :)

Deathhead

I can't believe neither of you caught the headline on the newspaper Grandpa was reading in the last post credit scene!!! Alien Abduction, Kevin Bacon tells all.

Cindy

I love these 3 films so much. They don't let up. I'm either laughing or crying and sometimes both at the same time. So much fun. I want more.

Bradley Weeks

There is one more show and one more movie that (technically) pair really well together. I really hope you do them back to back because I am so so so curious how you'd like them. They're the biggest flops of the entire MCU I believe and I'm so curious if you think they deserve it

YaYa

they didn't get mad about his past movies being edgy lol. you need to look a litter deeper into why they were so angry with him.

YaYa

😅

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Well, you say it's free, but it costs a heck of nerves because of all that buzzing and clinking on every notification, so I dooono. 🤷‍♂️

Dude

I'm 95% sure nebula and Peter got drunk and got it on sometime. 🤣

King George II

Rocket's first word was "Hurts". Heartbreaking...

blorgins

Gunn was actually fired before this movie and was brought back when some of the actors refused to sign on without him. Gunn has also said that there will not be a 4th Guardians movie (imo, there shouldn't be as this was a perfect ending), though the characters may appear in future films and both Gunn and Marvel have stated they would work together when the time comes.

Michael Celia

I can agree about Adam. Like you said, the problem is that he had been teased back in Volume 2 and I don’t think he could’ve appeared until James had put him in the next Guardians film. His role in this movie is hopefully just the launching pad for his own story across the MCU.

Aldo Gonzales

I'll be honest, this is the weakest of the Guardians films for me - it's a bit over-bloated. Adam Warlock is unnecessary (he's only in there because he was teased in the last one) and the sequence on Counter-Earth could've been cut down some (it kills the momentum going into the "face-off"). That being said, the Rocket backstory is very well done and the makeup on the High Evolutionary is incredible (you can't tell where Iwuji's face ends and the prosthetics begin). And that one-shot hallway fight scene at the two-hour mark ::wink wink::

Michael Celia

Now James gunn has gone on to DC. I'm really hoping The Marvel will keep it going

Kim Magee

OMG,I wasn't really looking forward to this one and I think it's obvious that I love the Guardians of the galaxy, but when I saw this at the movies it just was so sad, and not bringing Gamora back in and things like that it felt really not completed, watching it with Rob and Trin was just so much more light-hearted and fun. I actually really loved it. Changed my feel of this whole movie so thanks for that guys because I really love Guardians of the galaxy, and I didn't like that I didn't love this movie As much originally, now I see it differently ❤️

Kim Magee

dude, it feels soooo good to finally have someone who sees this movie the same way i do lol. everyone praises it as the best thing ever and i'm like...but why??? this one was more frustrating than any of them because the stakes were immediately high with Rocket's life being in danger but we spend the entire movie wasting so much time telling stupid jokes and focusing on other things. they literally have to say IN THE MOVIE "oh. wait. we're supposed to be saving rocket" like seven different times because the characters constantly forget the urgency of the situation they're in. i hate how this movie was used to hate on and downplay other movies because it's not even that amazing to me. this is a decent end to the trilogy, but GOTG 2 will always be my favorite.

YaYa

To continue Dave Batista watching, do Army of the Dead buahahaha

Jenny Lee Villanueva

My favorite post credit scenes: Stan Lee (glad you saw it, Trin) and the headline on Peter's grandpa's newspaper about Kevin Bacon and the alien abduction!

Nancy Scogin

Saw it only once. Movie was really good but not my favorite. Best parts were Rockets backstory, and Quill finally going back to earth to see his grandfather. Just not a fan of the constant yelling back and forth between characters trynna one up each other, I understand it’s a constant Gunn-ism (Peacemaker I’m looking at you). I didn’t really laugh as much as I did in previous ones, and while I did shed a tear for Rockets back story, can’t say I felt I was emotionally invested in the story like I was in previous iterations. Good movie, but GOTvol 2 is my favorite

Alex Gonzalez

The Good Place, Dune 2, and now Guardians 3. What a great week-end worth of reactions !

roncelune

The idea with Groot saying 'I love you guys' isn't that he's breaking only saying 'I am Groot' but that we've got to the point with these characters that we now understand him too. Bloody brilliant from Gunn imo!

Michael Harrop

This is the only one I'll skip for now, I suffered to much the first time I watched and I was an absolute mess when I left the movie theater T_T So maybe in a few years, especially since I love the Guardians of the Galaxy, but not now. And now I'm going to discover everything that follows with you, I can't believe we reached that point :-)

ln_wanderbooks

Unfortunately James Gunn left after this movie to operate DCs new cinematic universe (not to mention how disney tried to cancel Gunn after Twitter got mad about his past movies being edgy ((but people like Batista had his back still and even said he wont come back for 4 without Gunn))) So unless Disney and Warner Bros come to some agreement I dont see a Guardians 4 being made at least not with the save vibe and quality of 1-3. At best I could see the guardians helping in a new climax movie like with Endgame ect.

PKKite

Groot's final words, "I love you, guys" highlight a strong bond between the us and the characters. We've spent so much time with them that it was only fitting we also got to understand Groot. Definitely one of my top favorite Marvel projects.

Epiphron

You drop a MCU movie and Dune 2 in a few days ?! This is too good

Chris Robson

He’s moving on to DC, but he did a great job during his time with Marvel. The story may be over, but I’m glad it existed. We will always be able to pass them on down to the next generation. In the meantime, I actually liked James’ take on the Suicide Squad and a certain successful spinoff show.

Aldo Gonzales

I forgot to tell you guys this during your reaction in Quantumania: welcome to phase five. 1.) A decade ago, there were so many who didn’t know who the Guardians of the Galaxy were. Now, almost everyone knows them. The opening logo tells us that we got to join them on this crazy journey that lasted nine years over the course of three major films, two ensembles, one cameo, and a holiday special. It’s all coming to an end, but it’s ending on a high note. 2.) James Gunn knew the story he wanted to tell. Maybe we didn’t get everything we had hoped for, but we still got a lot. Rocket is his favorite Guardian, and from his point of view a talking raccoon sounded like the saddest creature in the universe. In the first movie, Rocket said he didn’t ask to get made and torn apart over and over. In Volume 2, Yondu obviously wasn’t there when it happened but he did guess correctly when he said the scientists who created him didn’t care about him. Then Rocket tells Thor that he has a lot to lose. He survived for Endgame with an eventual determination to revive his fellow Guardians. All of that culminates in this third and final adventure. 3.) The opening scene sets the tone for this movie. The other movies started out with happy music, but the song called Creep describes what Rocket has felt for so long. Adding to that, this is the final movie with the Guardians as we know them. It’s also James Gunn’s last involvement with Marvel. 4.) In case you don’t remember, the golden guy is Adam Warlock. He was “introduced” in the third post-credit scene in Volume 2. He was still in a birthing pod at the time. And yes, those abelisks are just like the one that the Guardians fought in the beginning of the same film. I feel like Adam was underused in this movie because there was so much going on, but he had been hinted over seven years ago. He had to show up sooner rather than later – preferably while James was still involved. I feel like Adam will return though. He’s a very new character in the MCU, and I can only imagine the hours of makeup that Will Poulter has to endure. They gotta count for something. Given how powerful Adam is, I can tell he’s gonna be a major help in the next Avengers film should they include him. 5.) Lylla was portrayed by Linda Cardellini. She previously portrayed Hawkeye’s wife Laura. 6.) At least Peter admitted to screwing up in Infinity War, but “nearly destroyed” is a dangerous understatement. He made half of the intergalactic population vanish including himself and some of his fellow Guardians for five years. Then again, it was supposed to happen as part of the one victory Doctor Strange foresaw. 7.) James confirmed that Peter was in a rush to save Rocket that he forgot about grabbing his signature mask on the way out. We didn’t see him wear it in this film. 8.) However, I did like the new uniform that most of the Guardians – both the 1st and 2nd iterations – got to wear. If I’m not mistaken, that outfit originated from the Guardians’ 2008-2014 comic run 7.) My favorite funny moment Mantis using her powers on those three guards in Orgocorp. 9.) Chukwudi Iwuji (spelled as choo-koo-dee e-woo-gee) or just Chuck if you prefer has said in several interviews that he doesn’t want us to empathize with the High Evolutionary. He genuinely wants us to hate him. I certainly do. It’s interesting because this is the first villain in a long time that we don’t have to empathize with. In the recent years, that has become the norm throughout most superhero media. He also admitted it was difficult for him to watch his own portrayal because in real life he’s a huge animal lover. He hates his own character as much as we do. 10.) It’s a bit hard to notice the first time, but Drax was carrying the High Evolutionary while he and his fellow Guardians were running with the pack of animals as the remnants of the Arete exploded. Then in an unfinished deleted scene, the High Evolutionary puts his face mask back on while Rocket locks him up in a cell on Knowhere. Following the release of this movie in theaters, James Gunn confirmed that the High Evolutionary is still alive. That means there’s some potential for this big bad boss to return in the future. 11.) My favorite fight scenes were Star-Lord and Groot gunslinging and then of course the Guardians fighting together one last time with No Sleep Till Brooklyn playing in the background. 12.) Gamora understandably wasn’t at her best in this film. I liked her the most in Volume 2 because she developed a motherly instinct towards Groot and reconciled with Nebula. At least Peter got to properly say goodbye to Gamora and gain some sense of closure. Throughout the movie he had held on hope that she was the same Gamora he knew, but by the end he accepted her all the same. In a similar sense, Gamora wanted Peter to get in his head that she’s not who he desired but she also began to understand why this whole group including her were so special to him. 13.) For me, Nebula and Groot were the highlights of this film. I never thought Nebula would have so much emotion, but I feel like in part it’s because she hung out a lot with Rocket during the blip since he was the only other active Guardian to survive. She even called him a friend right before entering the Orgoscope. As for Groot, he’s become much more reliable. He really surprised me with the ammo and the wings. It’s so cool that he could fly now, or at least glide. He also almost made me cry when he saw Peter freezing to death. The dude really is the heart of the squad. 14.) Drax found a new sense of fatherhood. My favorite moment with him was when he translated for Groot to Adam. 15.) And finally, Come And Get Your Love by Redbone helps bring the Guardians’ journey full circle. 16.) The good news is that the entire team survived. For months leading up to the theater date, many of us had been theorizing that it was gonna follow the formula that Endgame and No Way Home used where they kill off a major character in a film that closes an extensive arc. There were definitely a number of close calls, but for once everyone in the core team lived. 17.) Regarding the future of the Guardians, the sad news is that this movie is still the last time we’ll see some of them. Dave Bautista said that he would like to move on to do some more dramatic roles. I also understand that having to sit still during makeup can be a hassle. Zoe Saldaña has also said this would be her last time portraying Gamora but would like to see her portrayed by someone else in the future. However, I recently heard that she would like to see Gamora and Peter rekindle in the long run. So perhaps not all hope is lost yet. Personally I don’t see anyone else fit for the role. If we’re fortunate, maybe we’ll see her for the imminent fight against the Council of Kangs. Either way, Zoe is grateful for all the positive feedback on her portrayal especially from the female fan base. Karen Gillan did express interest in portraying Nebula again. I would personally hope so, because we’ve seen an immense amount of character development from her – especially with Volume 2, Endgame, and this film.

Aldo Gonzales

James Gunn is a master director, incredible writer and a perfect music lover. He's a huge fan of so many fun things and that overall makes him a wonderful movie maker. This is James Gunn and the MCU at it's finest.
