2024-07-02 08:09:23 +0000 UTCI remember that a reviewer once said that the satire starts becoming repetitive about halfway through. Which I 1000% agree with.... it starts off sharp, then gets a little stale. Honestly, it loses me at stomping the dog. I don't get the weird fascination some guys have with characters like Bateman and Tyler Durden. But Dafoe is fantastic as the detective. I do love that the psycho goes on to be a troubled superhero... and the cop goes on to be a troubled super villain. I do think that Patrick is killing... but the interchangeable-ness of their world, and never really being seen or standing out... leads to an increasingly grandiose perception of the things that he does. And Patrick ultimately can't be satisfied or be realized by releasing his urges, or by confessing. All that gilded effort is nothing but madness.

2024-06-29 22:12:15 +0000 UTCI haven't watched the reaction yet, so you may have caught this but "Patrick Bateman" was the name that Dexter used to purchase horse tranquilizer and that he had to delete from the database in one of the first episodes that you watched.
