That exactly is my problem with Murphy and why I still don't like him at the end of the show.

Jeanne

It's always funny and interesting to see the reaction to Murphy, his actions and specially the way other characters react to him... To me, it had never bothered me the way other characters give him shit, it's deserved... We have all talked about how characters like Clarke or Bellamy or Jaha, also have blood in their hands; so why would they have reason to judge Murphy? Well, it's because of the intentions and the context... Many characters have made mistakes and have done things, even worse things that Murphy, in order to save others, to save their people, to save everybody, mistakes for the greater good WHICH INCLUDES MURPHY... Murphy is still, sorry to burst someones bubble, a self serving dick, it's just that now he has a partner in crime and someone who he occasionally would sacrifice things for... But 90% of the shit he does, reprehensible shit, has either no valid reason or the reason is petty or self serving; him saving his ass as the expense of others... And there is no longer the excuse that "to others threat him like shit"; just a couple of episodes ago, Murphy when to them on an important moment when they were trying to save Roan and everyone else, and they gave him trust, they included him and Bellamy even gave him his gun together with all the trust and comradery of someone part of their group, and what did Murphy do? Bailed on him because he saw the situation was too dangerous FOR HIM, taking away THEIR supplies, the gun he was given and he has been taking advantage of their trust to steal from them... Yes, we got that nice moment of Murphy with the medicine, that rare 10% when he does something for the benefit of others, and that's the other side of Murphy, the duality of his character and a good reason why he is interesting, but lest not forget that he was there to steal their resources, EVERYBODY'S... They have reasons to think about Murphy the way they do, I mean, even before the whole hanging debacle the reason why people were so quick to throw him under the bus was because he wasn't just a dick, he was borderline psycho peeing on a thirsty person that was part of their group, not even an enemy (as if that would even make it ok)... Even the characters that have do pretty bad shit, can look at him and call him a COCKROACH and a selfish dick, because of the reason why he does the shit he does... Don't get me wrong, I really like his character, he is one of my favorites and a BIG REASON of the shows popularity; but he isn't a nice person and he isn't even remotely "good" even by the standards set by the other characters that have also done terrible things, even unforgivable "wrong" things, for reasons that are far more defensible when looking at the expectation of the greater good.

I was only half paying attention when you first started this show but now I want to go back and start over to really understand their evolutions. Great reaction!

Beth

And I'm finding the running bit on Raven being lazy very enjoyable
