The Others (2001)

Comments

i love this movie soooooooooo much

Hend Taha

So the servants were living in the house (as ghosts) when the mother and children lived there when they were alive.

Korivex

I didn't like this one. I get the whole point is that random violence can happen for no reason, and that's scary, but it made it uninteresting. It seemed very standard, run of the mill, horror movie.

Reverend Jim Jones

Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) plays one of that couple. Her husband is played by Keith Allen who is the real life father of Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy).

Calbah

I Remember BMX Bandits!! That was an Awesome movie!! LOL!!

Danny Madrigal

Fionnula Flanagan: I don't think any other actress can at the same time be grandmotherly and creep me the f out...

Michael Celia

Great psychological thriller! I like these way more than the gorry ones. Enjoyed both of you reacting to this. If I may make a suggestion....I know Halloween is over, but in my opinion..Paranormal 2, 3 and 4 are great. The rest of the trilogy I didn't care for. And since you watched The Joker with Phoenix in it, you would also like him in the Movie Sighns by M Night Shalamin.

Cyndi McCoy

Oh wow I just realized, Rob & Trin you haven't watched The Leftovers yet! I don't know if that's on any list, but I'm looking forward to when you get to watch it. I would say it's Damon Lindelof's best work excluding LOST.

Gilstead

Her AMC performance is ICONIC!

Taryn Clay

I saw this when it first came out only, and know on rewatch I realized that I didn't remember 90% of it 😱🤦🏾‍♀️😅 so It was a delight watching with you and wondering the same as you.

Jenny Lee Villanueva

I love this movie mainly because they capture the spooky atmosphere perfectly without any cliche jump scares, and the plot twist was executed perfectly. And as Rob put it "First time experiencing the living haunting the dead."

Charlie West

Love this movie and loved your reaction. Back in the day, it was such a diferent plot that nobody guessed the twist. It was fun watching you both figuring it out.

Renata Ligocki Pedro

I love this movie, and it's one not many know about, so I always recommend for people to watch it. I find it so interesting and spooky when they are all chanting "this house is ours" at the end. If you've seen the Sixth Sense, and you've been alive awhile, you may figure the ending out although still not many people figure it out before the end. Back when this came out, there was nothing like it before, so people wouldn't really think to guess that they were dead. The Sixth Sense (which came out a year before this one) and this one were the start of the Psychological Thriller genre.

Anika

This was spooky without the gore. It has been a very long time, but the scariest movie I remember that also relied on acting and atmosphere only is the 1963 version of The Haunting aka The Haunting of Hill House. I can never ask anyone to hold my hand in the dark, Yikes!

Cindy

This is such a great example of how you don't need gore or monsters or to even see any ghosts to make it scary. It's all acting, lighting, & atmosphere. And Eloise Hawking always seems to be in on the secrets lol

k4rizz4

Yeah its a work of art 😂

I will try it next time, it is super annoying when it happens! I wonder if you can check your Prime and let me know if The Others actually has them for you? Thank you for the tip, hope it works ❤️

I don't know how it is across the pond, but sometimes Amazon Prime will just have the subtitles "off" and not exactly an option to turn them on. Sometimes if you hit the "off" button anyway, it'll generate an option to turn them on. I don't know if that makes any sense but I have yet to encounter anything on prime that doesn't have subtitles. It could be something to tinker with in the settings. I'm sorry if this was entirely unhelpful just wanted to suggest it.

Maggie Barbour

Omg you should watch days of thunder or Far And away

Kim Magee

Wow BMX Bandits is SO 80's :-D

Louis Hung

Nicole Kidman is such an underrated actress! It is known as a psychological thriller…I LOVE this film 💚

Michele H.

I didn’t expect this one, I voted for it a while ago. What an amazing choice 🙌🏾

Kamanda Hickey

Rob has never seen Doctor Who. Something that needs to be remedied. 😂

Anthony Fioravaniti

Love this film.

Linda wightman

Rob, You should know Christopher Eccleston, he was the first Doctor Who when it returned, he was also in Cracker with Robbie Coltrane. He was excellent in both. ...and yes, he's also Malekith in Thor : The Dark World

PsYcHoKiLLa

This should be a fun reaction
